The alleged development of Islam

asalaamu alaikum,

me again.

these days i have also heard of a lot of attacks on Islam that Allah was actually a "moon-god" (astag'ferlah) and based on Arabic deities,

and 1) that Allah had daughters before and then that verse was removed

2) the Qu'ran had so many conflicting copies that a council after Muhammad's (SAW) death had to do some complile, delete, cut and paste

3) that Muhammad (SAW) compiled the Quran by borring OT and NT stories (testaments old and new)

obviously these are all lies, no doubt,

but how would we answer them? I need some help please brothers and sisters. Jazak Allahu Khairun. asalamu alaikum. abdullah,.

Moon God again? I think it was Chick Publications and their series of small booklets that made gave so much exposure to the myth that Allah was 'the Moon God.'

Follow the link to find a refutation of this written by Shabir Ally.

#1> Ask first for the verse(s). What do they sound like? What were the words and in which part of the Qur'an were they found?

What is for certain is that the Qur'an numerous times rejects this, amongst which is:

Yet they make the Jinns equals with Allah, though Allah did create the Jinns; and they falsely, having no knowledge, attribute to Him sons and daughters. Praise and glory be to Him! (for He is) above what they attribute to Him!6:100

The ascription of daughters to Allah was something that the pagan Arabs did. They would say that the Angels were daughters of Allah, but at the same time they would despise having daughters to themselves, preferring sons.

Has then your Lord (O Pagans!) preferred for you sons, and taken for Himself daughters among the angels? Truly ye utter a most dreadful saying! 17:40

These are nothing but names which ye have devised,- ye and your fathers,- for which Allah has sent down no authority (whatever). They follow nothing but conjecture and what their own souls desire!- Even though there has already come to them Guidance from their Lord! 53:23

Those who believe not in the Hereafter, name the angels with female names. But they have no knowledge therein. They follow nothing but conjecture; and conjecture avails nothing against Truth. 53:27-28

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

Abdullah, bro, stop talking to missionaries!

Br Arshad has dealt quite a bit with these people.  Maybe he could tell us about some of his experiences, and the best way to interact with them?

This is an *excellent* site that takes apart the most common missionary claims.
that Allah was actually a "moon-god" (astag'ferlah) and based on Arabic deities, and 1) that Allah had daughters before and then that verse was removed
Again, my advice would be to just stay away from missionaries and their pages.  Be aware of these people's mission.  They are not sincere in their questioning Islam, its practices, beliefs, history.  They are literally trained to target Muslims and to take apart their faith by focusing on the issues they have insufficient knowledge or doubts about.  Their goal is to take you away from Islam - not to guide you to truth or to give you a good perspective of things.

wAllahu a'lam.

wasalaamu alaykum.

I used to deal with these missionary types a lot a long time ago.  My faith actually became stronger in Islam.  But I don't recommend anyone trying it, its very time consuming.  I learned many of their deceptive techniques.

Some of the websites out there dealing with these people are listed here:

From Christianity to Islam
http://www.plaintruth.org

Excellent site answering missionaries
http://www.muslim-answers.org

Islamic awareness site

another site

responds to christian polemics

Answering for Islam

This site even has videos of Shabir Ally going up against a Christian missionary.  Its very good.

Assalamalikum wa rahmatulla
This is also a link worth taking a look at: http://www.themodernreligion.com/index2.html

I remember reading one article a long time ago about the experience of a muslim (woman i think) in one of these missionary camps...i can't remember if it was on this board or the old one. If anyone knows what I'm taking about and finds it then plz put it up

Wassalam alaikum
