salam,

we've had soo many threads on wether hair should be long short etc.
cant find them though

as fro the day of judgement, our awrah(private parts) can only be convered by Allah(SWT, and those that will not be able to have the blessing of being under his shade will be running around frantically worried about a lot of *other* things than their nakedness.....

wasalam

asalaamu alaikum,

yeah about the hair length,

I also understood that it should be kept long to cover yuour awrah,

but in terms of not copying men, I think it just means to keep your hair distinctively female,

so as not to copy a predominantly male hairstyle.

Not that long hair is particularly feminine, Isa (AS) had shoulder length hair, but just to keep it distinctively female. Wa'Allahu alam.

asalaamu alaikum. abdullah,.

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah,

I can't seem to find it either ???  I think I may have deleted it.. (because when I was trying to "fix" the board, I had to delete a couple threads..)

Basically, *all* scholars say that a woman's hair should not be in imitation of men.  There are different interpretations of that, but as long as you don't have a crew cut I think you should be fine inshaAllah.

As for covering your awra, this is the first time I've heard that.  A lot of questions come to mind with that..  What is defined as this awrah you have to cover?  (because the majority of scholars say a woman's awrah is *everything* but her hands and face)  Why would this even be an issue on the Day of Judgement, where there is a hadeeth in which Rasulullah [saw] expressly told Aisha ra that on that Day no one will be concerned with other people's nudity?  And why, if women need to conceal their awrah for modesty, wouldn't men have to do the same thing?

Anyway.. it's interesting that earlier today I was reading descriptions of Rasulullah [saw] :) and it's said that his hair was long enough to brush his collar.

wAllahu a'lam.

wasalaamu alaykum.

As others have already mentioned, I don't think our shame or awrah will be a concern for us on this terrifying day.  Our concerns will be our good deeds [or lack thereof], our sins, and saving ourselves from the Fire.  This will be a day of selfishness and unconcern for each other.  We will not care to look at one another in that way.  Check out the hadith that Se7en mentioned:

'A'isha RadiAllahu 3nhu reported that she heard Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: "The people would be assembled on the Day of Resurrection barefooted, naked and uncircumcised."

I said: "Allah's Messenger, will the male and the female be together on the Day and would they be looking at one another?" Upon this Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: "'A'isha, the matter would be too serious for them to look to one another."

(Sahih Muslim Book 040, Number 6844)

and Allah knows best.
