| assalam alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu Can one make nafl prayers after one has performed the Witr? Some one told me that if I make Witr I cannot pray anything until Fajr time. Please help. Jazakkalah. |

| Assalamu alaikum, Usually witr is the last prayer at night, but according to sth I read on Islam-qa a long time ago, if you feel like praying some more after witr or if you wake up and want to pray then you can. But you shouldn't make another witr at the end. wallahu a'lam |

| Assalamu alaikum, Allahu a'lam, I could be wrong. The reason I said that is that I think I read a hadeeth that says there is only one witr in a night. I'll see if I can look it up insha Allah. |

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, Mmhmm, I've heard that hadeeth as well. From what I remember from class though, there's one opinion that says you "undo" your first witr by praying another rakaa', and then at the end you perform your *real* witr. Allahu a'lam.. |

| As salaamu alaykum, just to shed a little light on this issue perhaps some may benefit. Shaikh Naasirdeen al-Albaani {May Allah have mercy upon him} has in his book "Qiyaam Ramadaan" a chapter entitled "The witr prayer and the two raka after it" He says "One can pray two rakat after witr since it is confirmed the he {saw} used to do it, moreover he commanded his to pray these two rakat: Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did this. Indeed, he said, “This travelling is exhausting and difficult, so after any one of you prays witr, let him pray two rak’ahs. If he wakes up, this is fine, otherwise these two rak’ahs will be counted for him". Shaikh Al Albani then said in his footnote of the book: This hadeeth has been narrated by ibn Khuzaymah in his "saheeh" and Ad Daaramee in his "Musnad" and is saheeh. He then said: I used to be hesitant {to apply the hadeeth} for a long time until i came across this command from the prophet whereby i immidiately applied to hadeeth. And i realised the hadeeth "make your last night prayer the witr salah" is optional and not an obligation and this is the opinion of ibn Nasr. |
