as salaamu alaykum,

I was looking through some of the older threads from Who Wants to be a Mu'min.. and I'm thinking it's time for another competiton :)

Anyone interested?  I asked the mod's and I only got two responses :(

How about teams this time?  Brothers vs. Sisters?  Albanyia vs. Cow bashers?

Anyone have any ideas?

I'm DEFINITELY interested...
this is my third time on the board today... I need MORE ..have to go onto the hard stuff..

:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o:o

<WARNING: MADINA ADDICTS ANONYMOUS LECTURE ABOUT TO BEGIN>

All you newbies beware...it starts off small..checking in every second or third day..then before you know it you're in every day..and you get disappointed when no one has answered you since YESTERDAY. ):(
Then the next stage is when you can't log off until you've read ALL the new posts..and keep hitting reload to make sure you haven't missed any
Then you look at the list of Usernames at the bottom of the page and think "Well why hasn't <name> replied to MY post!!" and you get angry and think everyone should be as fanatical and as addicted as you...

Soon even this is not enough for you...you need MORE from the board than the usual Q and A's or random discussions and this is when geneii (sp?) like se7en get on the case 8-)

:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :):)

Well, Sister, I think it's a cool idea. I'm happy to go with whatever game plan you may conceive in that little head of yours. As long as it's not learning stuff off by heart.
I liked the Weakest Link idea. We don't have to be mean or cruel..just the one who had most answers wrong is out. ´No comment.

well, now it's time for the others to have their say..

Why are there teams? ???  It should be every person for themselves. Unless your chicken, Se7en.  :D

I think teams is a good idea.  I think more people will participate that way, and a rivalry like brothers vs. sisters or Albanyia vs. non-Albanyia (cow bashers??) should make it a little more exciting also.

What do the other people think?

Albanyia vs. non-Albanyia? I mean, numbers wise, that's 250 to like 7... Intriguing, but would it be fair? :)

More importantly, would there be a prize this time for real or will the powers that be again simply mislead the competitors into battling one another for ten weeks in hopes of a prize that proved to be only illusory when victory came?

The winners of the competitions of old were duped and still wait for what is due for them...Can I get a second on this Br Arsalan?

Inshallah if there is a new competition (perhaps with a new host?) such tragic injustices will not be repeated...:)

C'mon people, the only reason that Sis Se7en
wants everyone in teams is that she needs help with her counting. Just like Jannah did when she set up that competition, man such a laugh that was. That's why Se7en was supervising Sis Jannah's counting just in case something went wrong from counting from 3 to 4 for the participants, I think Bro AbdulBashir will agree with me. :)

Also I think there should be some form of prize for the winner at the end. I'm sure all of us could contribute a pound or a dollar or so, to PayPals(Jannah Account) and that way we may have something in the pot for the winner. Just think an all expenses paid trip to Albany, sorry Umrah ? Now ain't that grand :).

The reason I said make it everyone for themself is that someone complained *cough* Se7en *cough* that if she had participated in the contest, the brothers (Abdul Basir and Arsalan) might not have done so well. *ahem*.  ;)

As for the previous contest's prize, well that last competition was done by Jannah, and you'll have to talk to her about that, but she has conveniently left the country.  As for this one, I'll be Regis. ;)  Perhaps a CD of some of a sheikh's recitation of various surahs in the Quran would be an acceptable prize? ???  Sheikh Mishari Efasi, Sheikh Ghaamdi, Sheikh Sudais, etc.  One of them? ???  I've also been thinking about how to make the contest a little more fairer, so those that spend a significant amount of time on the board and maybe newer to Islam have an opportunity to challenge and even win this contest. :)

as salaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah,

Sisters, what do you think?  I think the brothers need to be taught a lesson :P  Who's game? :)
Unless your chicken

she needs help with her counting
MashaAllah, look at all the anti-se7en sentiment rising.. it allll comes out when jannah's not here :P

Khayr, I forgive you, because I know you speak out of fear for your kind.  I'll try not to be *too* cruel when I whup all of you brothers :)
Albanyia vs. non-Albanyia? I mean, numbers wise, that's 250 to like 7... Intriguing, but would it be fair?
I think so :)  Isn't the average Albanyian worth like a hundred Californians, Texans, Canadians, or Brits?  :P
The winners of the competitions of old were duped and still wait for what is due for them...Can I get a second on this Br Arsalan?
What was your prize supposed to be?  Is not the ajr of Allah sufficient for you two? :P
The reason I said make it everyone for themself is that someone complained *cough* Se7en *cough* that if she had participated in the contest, the brothers (Abdul Basir and Arsalan) might not have done so well. *ahem*.
That wasn't a complaint.. that was a statement of fact.  Just tellin it like it is bro ;)
As for this one, I'll be Regis.
Are you sure you can handle it?  You have to be objective and fair.. no cheating to let the brothers win.
I've also been thinking about how to make the contest a little more fairer, so those that spend a significant amount of time on the board and maybe newer to Islam have an opportunity to challenge and even win this contest.
I'm a little scared bro.  What do you have in mind?

Wots that line... the taller they are the harder they fall ?

Insha-allah, in the spirit of the competition, I'll give a kitab to the winner as a hadyah, something like "Companions of the prophet vol 1" or perhaps some audio or cd cassete.

Get it started bhaloo, no doubt the Brits are gonna win this high and dry.
