Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatulah

I felt like being superficial today. :)

Do any of you girls wear jewelry and what types do you wear? I've seen many muslima's with nose rings. ouccccccch. Does anyone here have any and does it hurt?

yeah, i wear jewerly.. but SOOOOO little! i have soo many thingys, like gifts or my mommy's jewerly and stuff... but all i wear is...

a gold necklace that has a thingy.. i don't know what they are called-pendant?! or whatever... and it is actually the door of the Kabaah, like it's a square gold thingy and on it has the arabic writings that are on the Kabaah, or wait... i THINK it's the writings of the Kabaah!! that's what someone told me, but if it's not, it's just some really really pretty arabic caligraphy (sp)?! i'm spelling worse and worse every day! but it's hard to see what is written on that gold square thingy...anywho...

i also wear two rings... one is my high school class ring... i only wear it cause i spent more money than it was worth! and then i have this silver ring i got from ISNA two years ago... it's really really nice! hehe! and i felt good buying a ring from a muslim, instead of buying stupid cheap rings from other stores in my mall..

as of nose rings- i really was considering doing that for a while, but then i would be like tooo desi'ish...and i guess i was kinda scared too.. i think it does hurt, but i know ALOT of people who have them and they said it hurt for like a min, but afterwards it's ok... so i don't know... you have to have the nose for it though! i don't know if my nose cuts the criteria, LOL...but we'll see, maybe when i get married, inshaAllah, i might get one because the traditonal Pakistani brides wear those BIG nose ring thingys...

anywho...to put my thoughts all together- i really don't like wearing jewerly.. i like keeping it real n simpe :)

okee dokee

take care peeps!

salam,

all i have to say is :

I LOVE GOLD!!! all the time gold, the greatest gift of gold i could ever reciev is what Allah(SWT) provides for those entering jannah (houses made of gold) INSHALLAH.

i wear dimond earings, two plain looking gold bracelets and a gold chain with a pendent that has Allah(SWT) onit. i didnt mean to brag by the way just answring the sisters question.

one drag though  is i have to take off the necklace every time i enter the bathroom but i still love it....

Assalamu alaikum:
I wear ONE thing: My wedding ring.  It's gold and has 5 little diamonds all in a row.
I've never had any luck with jewlery.  I've lost just about every really nice worthwhile piece of jewlery I've ever owned.  Or maybe they were stolen and I thought I lost them, Allahu a'lam. I'm left with a bunch of not very worthwhile jewlery (junk and low grade gold) that I want to get rid of except I'm afraid the jewler would laugh in my face if I tried to get money out of them :)

as salaamu alaykum,

What I'm wearing.. more earrings than most sisters ;), two rings (silver) on my thumb and index finger, and a watch.

My watch has caused some confusion.. it has little hearts and diamonds, very girly :-)  It was a graduation present from my bro, not at all my usual style..  but it was a sweet gesture, so I have to wear it :)

There's a sister here.. I said to her one day, just in passing, that I liked her ring.. and she took it off and made me take it from her.  I was just very humbled and amazed.. what a cool sister mashaAllah. :)

anyway.. be careful about what fingers you put those rings on ladies, people might get the wrong idea ;)

take care :)

wasalaamu alaykum.

salam,

I don't wear any jewellery..not even earrings..

I tend to lose things..

have problem with earrings falling down the drain or in the swimming pool (they were real gold too..allergic to anything else)

chains not clapsed properly and falls off without noticing..

Also I have a few necklaces with pendants that have Allah's name engraved ..but I don't wear them bc there's the problem of entering the washroom with it.

can't keep a ring on..they make my finger itch..

gold bangles are too shiny..

I only wear a silver watch..my Mom gave it to me..used to be one of those olden day wind up ones..till my brother messed it up..so now it has a battery in it..

Other jewellery.. I save on special occasions...like eid or weddings.

Simple person I am...^_^

Salam,
merimda

Me too!.. The last time I had a ring was when I was 17... and it got into a drain while I was doing wudu... these things just don't stick on me. I used to wear a silver bracelet, given by some close friends of mine (at different times), but it kept on falling off, one after the other.

But I do hope I'll be lucky with the wedding band, inshaAllah... maybe, I'll just superglue it on. Till then, I'm jewellery-less.

Oh yes! I LOVE Platinum (though I have never had platinum jewellery)... or silver or white gold.
What I'm wearing.. more earrings than most sisters
I used to have 3 earrings on my left ear and 2 on my right while in college. Now... as said, before... nothing. And the holes have closed, except for the original piercings while I was a baby, one on each ear. Had some bad pierce moments especially with the pierce at the top of my ear.. *ouch!* :( Ahhh well...

wassalam :-)

slm,

oooh, girly topics!  I loove girly topics...but I also love NBA threads! Its ok, I think its good to be well-rounded! :)

I usually just wear my engagement ring.  But Saturday night I put in some gold loop earrings and I'm going to keep them in Insha'Allah, cos its kind of fun.  I used to wear a watch, but then the battery died.  So then I stole my mom's watch..and then ITS battery died..so now I don't wear one.

I want to get a nose ring--a really tiny one, cos I think they look mad stylish and sophisticated...but my mom is SOO against them, so I'm going to have to wait.

What do you guys think about toe rings?  I think they look really cute in the summer with sandals..but I've never bought any.

I loove rings and earrings.  But I have baby hands, so I don't think rings look as nice on me!  Speaking of hands... are any of your hands like 5 shades darker than the rest of you?!  It looks sooo odd!  I swear in the summer, if I pull up my sleeves it looks like I have a glove on!  My arms are like insanely white and my hands are straight up brown...my friends all make fun of me.  I think its the driving.. my hands are always in the sunlight. Oh well..I haven't lost any sleep over it.

Well I'm going to go..take care,
Wassalam,
Nazia!

I remember when I took my christian neices to the mosque for the first time.

I watched them as they were absorbing all the different clothes, diversities of ethnic groups and languages.

On they way home the first question they asked was'

" How do the women with the noses pierced- blow thier noses?" :)

sis kathy, i am cracking up and wondering at the same time!

And for my catastrophe accident prone sis merimda

next time you loose something maybe some handsome prince will find it for ya!

A woman should adorn herself for her hubby and a man should be simple as we all know.

there is one thing i would like to know where in our Quran are rubies mentioned. which sura. i think they are i must reread inshALLAH . if someone could answer my question on a platter, this lazy bum will appreciate it

Oh thak god!! i thought i was the only one who didn't wear jewlery!  .. its not becasue i don't like it, its just becasue i have like no real jewlery..and i hate wearing the fake stuff..its either real or nothing. But i do perfer silver to gold..everbody wears gold practically.  Silver is more unique.. like me! (or at least i like to think so):) :)

Gold is boring and too traditional. I don't think it looks that nice and only matches with some colours. However silver is really captivating. It goes well with black hair/eyes hence really shows out.

Personally I think a small diamond nose stud looks really pretty on women ;) (blush blush) As for nose rings..eerrgghh Have you seen those massive ones some brides wear on their wedding day. A bit OTT if u ask moi.

Simplicity is the best form of beauty.

One verse came to mind...

Surah Ar-Rahman

v.58 (In beauty) they are like rubies (yaakut) and coral (marjaan)

v.59 Then, which of the blessings fo your Lord will you deny?

There might be other verses, Allahu a'lam. Hope this helps. :-)

Take care, all :)

walikumas'salaam warahamtullah ;-D

oh man..i totally love jewelry ;-D correction..i love silver jewelry ;-D it's the best :) i don't really like gold..i don't like how it looks with my skin :) i wear earrings..little 1's in my back earholes :) a chain, with a camera on it, and an "s" for my name..(duh :)) a watch, that's too big for me..a bangle, 4 bracelets, an arm bangle, 4 rings..an anklet, and 2 toe rings..:)

nazia, toe rings r cool :) they aren't uncomfortable @ all..it's a little weird @ 1st..like when u pray and stuff..but u can adjust them, so it's not cutting off circulation ;-D

i wanna get a nose ring..my parents r totally down with it..:) especially my dad..as my dadi (dad's mom) had it :) i think i have the nose for a stud, not a hoop..although i want a hoop ;)

this sounds like a lot of jewelry..i know..lekin the only thing that shows r my rings/toe rings..:) u can barely hear/see anything else :) and yes, i wear it all @ once and sleep with it as well :) and no they don't bother me @ all ;-D
