AsalamAlay.com, Peace and e-Greetings be upon you, Yeah, I was frustrated the other day when their website disappeared off the internet...so I took the following quote directly off moonsighing.com about the mirror site:
Recent downtime for Moonsighting.com server made me decide to inform you all that I have a mirror site: http://www.geocities.com/moonsighting Should it happen in future, you must keep this URL handy in your favorites or bookmarks list as an alternative.
Happy Moonsighting, ~ HiMY! ~ |

Walaikum asalaam, Kashif you are confusing the moonsighting.com site with another site (I think its the ramadan.org websit by HT who sent out an email saying the moon was sighted in Libya (maybe it was lebanon) but no proof was provided. ). The www.moonsighting.com site is actually a very good site that keeps track of moon locations and sightings.
assalaamu alaikum There was quite a furore caused by this site last year. They said that the moon had been sighted in Libya without mentioning any source. When questions arose how come they were virtually the only org who pushed the start of Ramadan for that day they took down their announcement and didn't respond to the e-mails of Muslims who were trying to verify their claim. Kashif Wa Salaam
|

AsalamAlay.com, Peace and e-Greetings be upon you and Ramadan Mubarak too. Here in Toronto we have a Hilal Committee. It evolved over many years bringing together pretty much every masjid and muslim organization in Toronto. They have meetings open to the general muslim public on the night before moon sightings are possible at a masjid easily accessible on the Transit subway line. Their sincere efforts have expanded to include muslim organizations beyond the city of Toronto. Here's the URL for the whole lowdown: http://www.HilalCommittee.com It's a good complement to the moonsighting.com site. |
