Muslim regimes' role in attacks on Afghanistan criticised

By our correspondent

KARACHI: The Islamic Liberation Party (ILP), also known as Hizb ut-Tahrir, condemned on Tuesday the Muslim
regimes' support to American and British attacks on Muslims in Afghanistan. Spokesman for Hizb ut-Tahrir in
Pakistan Naveed Butt said if these attacks were limited to target Al-Qaeda then how Gen Musharraf announced
that the next step in the operation would be political dispensation.

The ILP, having a strong understanding of Islamic injunctions and being the vanguard of worldwide Khilafah
movement, had attempted in the early days of Taliban convincing Mullah Omar to declare Khilafah. To their
dismay, Omar went on with an Islamic emirate. However, the Hizb members who knew the outcome of the
meeting with Taliban, believed that Taliban, at the twilight of the 20th century, ruled their country with
austerity unmatched to any Islamic state of modern times.

Butt said President Musharraf defended the US and British air strikes on Afghanistan in his press conference by
saying that these were the 'targeted strikes' aimed not at the cities of Afghanistan but at the 'terrorist camps'
bordering those cities.

"How is it that the General announced that next step in this operation would be political dispensation or the
change in the government of Afghanistan," he questioned. "This is an admission from his side that the attacks
are linked to the establishment of a new regime in Afghanistan, which will obviously be yet another puppet to
the West." The Hizb spokesman condemned the unbridled attacks on Afghanistan by allied forces saying Afghans
are brothers and sisters to every Muslims. He condemned the involvement of other Muslim regimes in the
attacks. "This criminal action would not have been possible without the full co-operation of the regimes of
Muslim countries."

The ILP also criticised President Musharraf for confirming in his press conference that he had opened Pakistan's
intelligence and airspace to the belligerent infidels. "Promise the hypocrites a severe punishment for they ally
with the infidels instead of the believers. Do they seek dignity from them? All the dignity belongs to Allah," Butt
reminded President Musharraf of the statement of Allah.
