Assalamo elikuim Al-Fateh is about Sultan Muhammad Fateh when he conquered Istanbul. (I should know we have wahtched it 100 times or may be more and me and my older one even know some of the dialogues by heart and use them :)) Also Salam's world (Sura- Feel) is good too but it is more for younger kids(my 4 year old loves it- you can feed him anything when he is watching this ;) ) Wasalam tq |

AsalamAlay.com, Peace and e-Greetings be upon you all, Thanks for the replies. Boy and the King? Gotta see that one then. Fateh...I had actually seen that one. Once. I already gave that one to my aunt, who happens to be about 20 years younger than me(!). Yes. I enjoyed Fateh, especially when the Soldier looks down the hole and the Muslim suprises him and punches him in the nose. What's your second choice then if I can ask? One week til Ramadhan and counting... ~ HiMY! ~ |

Assalamu'alaikum :-) Al-Faatih... that is my favourite too. I think he is soooooo C-O-O-L, mashaALlah :):):) I think I've fallen in love with that man :) *ahem* OK... that aside... Just wanna share some things that I've learnt with Al-Faatih, inshaAllah... One of the big things that I've learnt about him is that he is one man that thinks *BIG*, mashaALlah... 1) He is a man of big dreams, mashaAllah. He has sight and maturity. And one thing is that he is not hasty. He takes time, and patience to achieve what he wants. He has enthusiasm, yet a certain sort of calmness. And he also shows a lot of wisdom, mashaAllah... 2)He is really analytical and strategise his plans well. 3) When everyone thinks its impossible to build a canon of about a certain, diameter at that time (can't remember how big but it's 12 smt).. He *Thinks Big*, and doesn't give up and goes for it. And managed to build a canon that can crush through the walls of Constantinople, of which everyone think is formidable. 4) When people think that its impossible to cross over the river to get to Constantinople, he *Thinks Big*. He and his troops dragged their ships over a mountain! MashaALlah... He saw the mountain... as an opportunity... not a barrier. And it takes strength within a man to exude strength externally... subhanallah. ... as prohesized by Ar-Rasul (s.a.w) that the leader who liberated Constantinople would be the best leader, and his army would be the best army... I don't have the hadith... but if someone can help put it up, it'll be brilliant :) 5) Plus, did anyone catch the part when he said the du'a when he woke up from sleep? Cool... 6) And he did all that when he was in his 20s .. I think while he was 22.... mashaAllah... And this is the kind of youth that we want to produce for the ummah. Youth with zeal, vigour and energy, yet, humble and wise, mature and calm.... in wanting to achieve peace and justice for Allah. Sorry for that long post.. but, errr.. to answer your question....I don't have a second favourite. As for the Boy and King..., yeah.. its pretty OK. I think more can be gotten from the videos if we talk about it... maybe the kids would enjoy and appreiate it more, inshaAllah :) My heroes :) wassalam! |

Salaam FAtih is my favorite too. I also like this one called "Hay: The Gazelle Child." IT's about this boy who grows up and discovers Allah on an island where he is the only human. He grows up with the animalsetc. I watched in seventh grade in Arabic, and it was good even though I couldn't understand it. Now they have it in English. |

[slm] i heard the Jar was supposed to be good. but haven't seen it personally. i've always liked fatih, b/c it teaches a little bit of history, but most kids i see, espec. boys, just want to fast forward to the battle. boy and the king was OK, but nothing really special. Adam's World and Muslim scouts are good, but not for any kid above 9, espec. if they grew up in this country.
I think more can be gotten from the videos if we talk about it... maybe the kids would enjoy and appreiate it more, inshaAllah
Couldn't agree more!! [slm] |

salam, Some ppl have problems with the sorcery scenes in the Boy and the King.... I don't really like the voice acting for some characters and the use of slang..wished they could have used more sophisticated language.. but all that aside it's a decent film and I liked the closing song.. Haven't seen Fatih in ages..so can't remember most of the film.. but I want to see the new Astolabe film about sultan Qutuz.. and I also want to see the new Salam videos.. ^_^ |

[slm]
I also want to see the new Salam videos
I saw the one about Salam and the Knights of Virtue. A wierd plot, not bad though. I heard so much about it before, I had high expectations, and wasn't impressed when I finally saw it. May Allah reward the designers for their efforts. Anybody heard of Lion of Ain Jaloot? [slm] |

Assalamo elikuim Another good Eid gift idea for kids can be books - there are some real good fiction and non-fictions books on astroble website for elementry school age kids . I have just ordered a set of four mystery books(alternate to Harry Potter ? when we ran out of Haroon Pakhtoon :) ) written by Yahiya Emerick called “Stories for Young Muslims “ . Also there was another one called “Rashid and the missing body ” I think the recommended age is 11 or 12 – Just some ideas – check that site there are many good books. Also has anyone one seen the video “The Lion of Ayn Jalut ” , how is it ? Is it as good as Fatih? Wasalam tq |
