slm Muslim Leaders Salute Will Smith World Entertainment News Network Muslim leaders across America are saluting WILL SMITH for embracing their religion after completing the MUHAMMAD ALI biopic. Smith was introduced to the religion while learning about the legendary boxer's life - Islam is Ali's religion of choice.   Friends close to Smith claim the megastar is now embracing the religion in his own life and is eager to learn more about it. Director of the American Muslim Association of North America, SOFIAN ZAKKOUT says, "Muhammad Ali is one of the best examples of Muslims in this country. "He's been a wonderful spokesperson for the religion and if Will Smith can continue Muhammad Ali's work that would be wonderful." He continues, "Islam is a peaceful religion and if good people such as Muhammad and Will can carry that message then it would be wonderful. It would be a positive message for peaceful Muslims all over the world." Smith appeared at the AMERICA: A TRIBUTE TO HEROES telethon in September alongside Ali, defending Islam in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington.

slm Subhan Allah!! Alhamdulillah! This makes me really really happy. Will Smith always was (and still is) one of my favourite actors. I always really admired him for his devotion to his wife and children. Something like that is rare in the Hollywood world of millionaires. I'm really happy for him and his family. Insha Allah his wife will convert too and their children will grow up Muslim. :) :) :) wasalaam eleanor

Salaams hmmm, i told my sisters i heard that will smith converted.. and they all didn't believe me and they asked me where i heard it and i said, "jannah.org" and they all kinda laughed...i guess this site isn't a good source for them! hehehe :)*but don't cry, i think it's a good source, and that's what matters, right? *wink wink* but anyway, Br.Arshad- where did you get that article from? i'm still kinda shaky on believing it, i thought i would have heard it everywhere and my friend who knows everything on celebrity stuff didn't even know..quite odd i must say...:) but dang, if it's true...that's awesome dawaah... but i doubt the media will talk about it or if they do, they will like say one sentence :( anywho, take care all Wa Salaams!

slm The article is from the World Entertainment News Network, however I didn't receive it directly from their website.  I was sent an email from one of those electronic e-zines and they quoted the article in there and gave the source as the World Entertainment News Network.  That's all the information I have. Why were your sisters laughing? ??? What things don't they like here?

HOLD IT HOLD IT HOLD IT!!!!!!! JUST HOLD YOUR HORSES GUYS! Has Will Smith COVERTED to Islaam? From the article it says he is embracing islaam, it does not actually say he has converted! So HAS he converted, or is he just interested in Islaam? The article did not state if he took Shahaada so PLEASE guys dont celebrate just yet. So does anyone know the actual score on this?

And may Allah reward Muhammad Ali for the good he's done for Islam :)

Assalamu alaikum, From what I understand from ads that come up in my yahoo, Will Smith is going to play the role of Mohamed Ali in a movie that's coming out on Christmas day.  That's probably why he read his biography, and of course he's gonna say something nice about Islam since he's playing the part (probably hence the word "embrace" Islam. It probably means he was positive about it).  Now whether or not he's converted, well, maybe after he does the movie he'll feel real strong about it or something and convert :)

i have been watching this discussion unfold from the fence so to speak.  I don't want to sound negative or offend anyone but we should not be looking upto people who work in Holywood.  historically, entertainers were from the lower classes of society with their "skills" not really being given much thought or finance - unlike now.  This Islamic nation needs to look  upto its "greats" e.g. the righteous, scholars, mujahidin etc. This is what we should be aspiring to.  Not to be a clown and perform for people. "do they think that we created this world for play"
