| salam me and a friend have been havin a debate, just wanted 2 know wat islam says. one of us say it is fard 2 wear hijab and pray and therefore if u deny 1, it is equally as denying the other. one of us say it is more sinful not 2 pray than not wear a hijab so wat r the sins of not praying and not wearing a hijab. could u give me quotes from hadith and quran if poss w/salam |

wa alayakum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, First, there's a distinction between not doing something, and *denying* something is required. For example, if you steal something, but know that this was wrong, and you admit that it was done out of weakness, than this is a sin for you. You're Muslim, but you've committed a sin. (And if you seek forgiveness, Allah will forgive you inshaAllah.) But if you lie, but then claim that lying is permissible in Islam.. this is much more serious than just committing a sin. This sort of claim can literally take you out of Islam.. so it's something we have to be careful about. Just wanted to clarify these two because you mentioned the phrase "denying an action". And just a though about salah.. it's a little different than all other obligatory actions because salah is *the* most important action after the shahada. There are some scholars who say that if you don't perform salah, even *if* you admit that you should, you have committed kuffr. (This is not the case with any other action) I think they say this because there's a hadeeth in which Rasulullah [saw] said that salah is the distinction between *us* and *them*. So I don't think it can be put on the same level as hijab, wAllahu a'lam. Hope this has made some sense :) wasalaamu alaykum wa rahmatAllah. |
