More thoughts, marginally less random ...

More thoughts.  Sorry about this.  Shortly after 11 September I remember reading a post on the MCB web site along the lines of "You Muslims are all terrorists, etc. everywhere you go there is killing, etc."

Frankly, I ignored the ignorance but it started me thinking about the various "trouble spots" around the world.  Here's a short list:

1. Palestine.
2. The Balkans.
3. Northern Ireland.
4. Kashmir.

What do they all have in common?  No, not Muslims but the British.  All of these areas involve artificial borders drawn up by (and presumably for the benefit of) the British at various stages of the decline of its empire.

Does anyone else have any (more) examples of a "trouble spot" in the world that is an area the subject of "creative cartography" by the European ex-colonial powers?

Just seeing if a train of thought leads anywhere ...

Thanks for that.  Can you expand on this a bit please, or point me in the direction of other sources.
