In the name of Allah The Merciful The Compassionate

AL Salam Alaikum Wa Rahmatu Allahi Wa BarakatuHu.
May peace be upon you and Allah's Mercy and His Blessings.

Allah has ordained fasting upon us fasting, like He has
ordained it on people before us. Allah has ordained this upon
us so that we may have more consciousness of Allah.

Hadith in Bukhari:

3.128: ------- Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said,
"Allah said, 'All the deeds of Adam's sons (people) are for them,
except fasting which is for Me, and I will give the reward for it.'"

The fasting that we do is for the sake of Allah. Whoever
does any good deeds, it is better for them. Allah will repay them
with a beautiful repayment in the Jannah. The people that fast
will enter Jannah through one if its gates called Ar-Raiyan.
May Allah accept our fasts for His sake.

Allah wishes easiness for us not difficulty. If a person is
sick, or travelling, Allah through His gracious kindness, allows
the person to make up for latter days. For people that are too
weak to fast, Allah, The Gracious, allows the person to feed the
poor instead.

Allah revealed the Quran during the month of Ramadhan. The
Quran is a great blessing from Allah to mankind. The Quran guides
the people out of the wrong statements that the shaitan implants
in people, to the understanding of the Greatest Truth, the
Understanding of Allah. All the thanks and praises are to Allah
for giving us this great miracle. In order to show our thankfulness
to Allah, and fulfill the time period that Allah has ordained for us
to fast, whenever we witness this month, we must fast during it.

During our fasts, we are exerting an effort for the
sake of Allah. The Fasting is a shield and protection from the fire
and from committing sins. Allah, through His guidance, allows us to
realize His greatness more. Allah makes us remember Him more
while we are fasting.

Hadith in Bukhari:

3.118: The Prophet added, "By Him in Whose Hands my soul is,
the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is
better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk.
(Allah says about the fasting person), 'He has left his food,
drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me.
So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the
reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times."

Allah ordains for us to fast a fixed number of days,
29 or 30 days, depending on the length of the month of Ramadhan.
We start the fast when we see the hilal (new moon), and we
stop the fast when we see the hilal (new moon). Allah has
made the moon giving light as one of His signs.
Let us not argue and fight with our brothers and sisters
concerning the start or end of the month of Ramadhan. We must
ask ourselves, what benefit will we have if we argue or fight
with someone to follow our opinion. What rewards can we
earn in the akhira by this arguing? Allah has allowed differing
opinions in this matter, and Allah ordains for us to make
peace between our brothers and sisters.

My dear brothers and sisters, let us remember Allah much
during the upcoming month of Ramadhan. Allah is close to us. He
answers our prayers when we call on Him. Let us also answer His
call. Oh Allah, please accept from us, we are Your worshippers.
Amin.
