Need info on Islamic courses

I was hoping someone would give me advice on Islamic courses that are out there.  I'm looking for a course (for women)where I could go and study somewhere rather than an on-line course. Most of the courses I've seen so far is to do a degree which normally lasts for 3 yrs, but I'm more interested in something less longer than that. (i.e. a yr or less).

Also I'm looking for a more beginner couse where I could build up my knowledge on a variety of subjects.

The only place I've found v. appealing so far is Al-Huda International course in Pakistan.  This starts in January and I'm seriously considering in doing this course, but I want to keep options open to the last min, and see what else there is B4 applying.

Any help appreciated!  :)

Jazakallah.

Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullaahi wa barakaatuhu sis

What language is this course in Pakistan taught in? Because if you're thinking of studying the deen in any language other than Arabic, i would seriously recommend first enrolling urself into an arabic course.  learning the deen in a foreign language is unnatural and loses alot of the essence of Islam. none of the classical scholars learnt Islam  in other than arbaic - instead they all learnt arabic first, and in fact most of the names of scholars we are familiar with were all 'ajamis (non-arabs).  There's a story cited in the beginning of the Noble Quran (in the introduction) which goes:

May Allah's mercy be on Sheikh 'Umar Uzbak, a great Turkish man, who strove for Islam in Uzbakistan under the Russian government, after his long fight against the enemies of Islam with fire (iron) and tongue (speech), he took refuge in Afghanistan at Kabul, where the government honoured him. I met him there in 1352 A.H. (approx. 1932 CE) i.e. nearly 40 years ago, and he had vowed to Allah that he will never speak to a relative or anybody else except in the Qur'anic and Messenger's (Arabic) language. His wife sent a man for me to intercede for her to him that he should speak with her and her children in the Turkish language even for an hour everyday. So when I spoke to him about it, he said: 'Russians had compelled us to learn perfectly the Russian language (by force), so we learnt it. And unless they knew that the learning of the Russian language will make the person who learns it, follow their ways of thinking, characters, and their traditions, they would not have forced anybody to learn it.' He further said to me, 'I have vowed to Allah long ago not to speak except in the language of the Qur'an and Sunnah (i.e. Arabic) and I do that only for Allah's sake. If my wife and children desire to enjoy speaking with me, they should learn the language of the Qur'an and of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) (i.e. Arabic) and I am ready to teach them the Qur'anic language whenever they desire that”

The Russians knew that the ideology of any nation was contained in its language, this they acted in this way.  Similarly, the ideology of Islam is contained in Arabic, so it is imperative that everyone learns it ESPECIALLY if they want to study Islam.
