I am learning about Isalm and in need of a terminology lesson.( Need to learn how to spell terminology too :) ) Words such as du'a and mahr ... hadith ... Umrah ... wudu ... takfeer and anything else someone would be kind enough to expalin. Thank You :) |

Also if you scroll down to the bottom of the [url=http://www.jannah.org/board/help.html]FAQ[/url], there are some definitions of some frequently used phrases on the board. but just really quickly.. mahr - the gift given to the bride from the groom at the time of marriage. it's actually a woman's right, as the amount is a security for her in the case of divorce, or if something unfortunate happens in the future. hadith - a text about a saying or action of the prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him umrah - 'Hajj' is the pilgrimage to mecca, required of Muslims, performed at a particular time of year. but if that pilgrimage is performed outside of that time for hajj, it's then called umrah. wudu - before prayer, Muslims wash themselves - their hands, face, arms, feet, etc - in order to be purified for the prayer. takfeer - accusing someone of kuffr. Kuffr is disbelief, rejecting faith. It comes from a word which means 'to cover' or 'to conceal'. |
