One of my friend has come up with the following query regarding this hadith. Can someone explain pls ? From Sahih Muslim Book 006, Number 2564: Abu Huraira (radiallaho unho) reported Allah's Messenger (salallaho alaihi wasallam) as saying: Allah, the Majestic and the Exalted, said: Every act of the son of Adam is for him except fasting. It is done for My sake, and I will give a reward for it. By Allah in Whose Hand is the life of Muhammad, the breath of the observer of fast is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. Walaikum as salaam, ---------------------------- As far as I know, in Islam, all prayers & praises are for Allah & Allah alone. Our namaaz, fast, Hajj - what ever. So making this distinction for Roza (fasting) is only confusing the issue. Wassalam Faizan |

| Assalamu alaikum, One explanation I've heard is that for all the acts of worship that we do, we know what the reward is. For example, we know that if we pray in Jamaá we get 27 times the reward of prayer, and if we perform Hajj we become cleansed of all sins, and if we say subhan Allahi wa bihamdih a certain number of times per day we get a certain reward etc. However, with siyam, we don't know exactly what the reward is, Allah is the one who knows. So we do it for Allah. Also, if you pray or go to hajj or give zakat, people know about it. However, no one has to know you're fasting, and no one would know it if you broke your fast when you were supposed to be fasting. No one except Allah. So we fast for the sake of Allah even though we could be not fasting and no one would know. Wallau a'lam |
