first put some milk in a bowl. then put it in the micro wave for about,, a couple of mins, when it starts to bouble.
then put in some suger and stear. once the suger has desolved and the cornflakes. add enough some is above the milk level.

eleinor try my recipy,, lot more tastyer.

ahmed you place the milk in the micro until it boubles,, it may take differening amounts of time depending on the amount of milk,, the amount of ingredience you use depends on how hungry you are. what you do is put the amount of milk you want, and add as much cornflacks it takes for some of the flakes not to be completely under milk. suger is added to tast.

And if you want to be a bit of a devil, try my style.

Pour your cornflakes into the bowl until its half-full, and then fill the rest of it with a different cereal (like Weetos for instance).

Yumm!

All this talk of food. It's  a good job us Brits have finished our fast for the day ;-)

One question though, which do you prefer?

Hot or cold milk?

i never drink milk from the bottle, it kind of tast a bit stale if you do that. i always heat it first. i dont mind if it gets cold again. just so long as it has been heated.

hay , some one in my family once bought kosher milk. why would there be kosher milk. so i phoned up the number on the carton and asked them what they mean by it and if normal milk has meat in it.
the lady on the other end told me that the milking has beeny a rabia.
whats the point of that?
"the muslims will follow the christians and jews even if it takes them down a lizards hole"
so, has any one heard of Hallal milk?

Yes, I have heard of halal milk. and we always make sure to get it. In our area, halal milk has the cRc letters inside of a triangle. It stands for Chicago Rabbinical Council. I think it's different because it doesn't have some of the animal growth hormones that are added to other milk.

I haven't tried cornflakes in warm milk, and I can't believe there is this deep discussion on it, lol.  I just eat my cereal with cold milk, but maybe I should try Jehad's recipe, it might be interesting.  :)

I wonder what recipes will appear next? ??? Chips with salsa? ???

LOL :D

i loveeeeeee cocoa puffs as well... but hmm i never eat cerel with warm milk, i guess i'll try this recipe, inshaAllah...

but umm, i'm gonna say what kinda cerel i eat... and i know for a FACT you guys are gonna think i'm sooo disgusting...

but you know what my family eats?

*gets kinda scared about what reaction i'm gonna get*

we eat cracker cerel! LOOOL, my dad made it up., i'm telling you guys, it's sooooooooo good!

you just take ritz (i think that is what it's called) crackers and smush them up and then put in milk, enough milk as you would put for any of your cerels and then enjoy! it's delicious! *slurp* hehehe

if anyone dares to try it, tell me what you thought about it!!! a single friend of mines wont try it :( *sniff sniff* you guys are missing out, LOL

and ahmed- LooooL... that was a funny response, hehehe!

hey wait... i just  read the recipe again and i'm confused!!

we warm up milk first until it bubbles and then take it out and then add the corn flakes, which should be a little bit more above the hot milk, and then add sugar....

OR....

we warm up milk and add corn flakes too, then warm it up until it bubbles, take it out and then add sugar...

i would have thought the second one makes more sense....

but then again- i am completely clueless when it comes time to cooking!

You heat it up until it boils?? But that means you get that milai on it... you know that skin of milk which i find quite disgusting. What you want to do is to heat up the bowl with the cereal and milk in it for 50-60 secs.

Let me get this right...

Someone gave me an entire box of cornflakes- more than I will ever be able to eat.

Tuesday is my night to cook for the mosque and Iftar.

Are you all saying the brothers will be grateful if I "cook" the flakes?

Now- you are all trying to figure out if I am serious or not....hmm...

As salamu alaykum Kathy,

I think that the brothers would love it!!!  At Iftar last Sunday only my husband, myself and a lone brother showed up at the mosque.  Of course I had dessert with me so we ended up having pizza.

Al hamdu lillah the brothers are blessed to have food.

Assalamu'alaikum :)

I eat cornflakes like Br Jehad.. warm milk... but not till it bubbles... just warm enough.. add cornflakes then sugar. I like it soggy with some crunch and crisp :)

And I like to mix my cereals like Weetabix with cornflakes with cocopops...whatever I can mix and match with... and sometimes, with Milo, powdered lightly over.

COld milk is only when I'm LAZY...
My current fav is Honey Bunches of Oats .. mmmmmmm

And Prata with sugar is yum yum for my tum tum... :-)
so is prata with Sambal Tumis Sardines or Anchovies... :) trust me! Ah well... more for me, then :)

wassalam! :-)

ALRIGHT!!:D a new cornflakes recipe to add to my repetoir!! I'll call it "Jehad-style Cornflakes" :D

Sis Hajree, I remember having something similar for breakfast at my grandparents house in Fiji, but they were crackers in sweet black tea, or "laal chai".  We used to eat the crackers by fishing them out with a spoon and then drink the tea mmmm it used to be so nice :)

So bro jehad, who taught you how to cook? ;)

He took them along with the other 5 trays of food.
He was late and in a hurry- not paying much attention to the stuff I was handing him!

However- once he got to the mosque, for the life of him, he could not figure out why I had sent cornflakes.

Needless to say- they are still in the van....

assalamu alaikum,

I always warm up my cereal for 30-40 sec in the microwave. The kind of cereal we have has dired fruit in it, so it flavours the milk.  It is like eating Quaker instant oatmeal, which is very yummy!

Sehri is the bit of food you have before fajr
Iftar is when you BREAK your FAST (BREAKFAST)
and it usually means the actual breakfast in the morning, but in Ramadan it means the breaking of the fast at maghreb.
Does that make sense or did I just confuse things more? :-)
Wow I can't believe it, this thread about cornflakes just keeps growing and growing... I never thought there was all that much to say about cornflakes!

Salam,

hmmm..why did I not see this thread before..^_^

Warm milk *ugh*..ishta (milai) ..*gag*..

Cornflakes..I don't usually eat cereal but when I do I have to make a fruit salad out of it..

To my cornflakes I add..strawberries, bananas, blue berries if available (sometimes I add in seedless grapes) top it with golden honey and cold milk..

That's how I eat my cereal..

salam,
