Question, how do you feel about a non Muslim girl in here as a regular?

Salaam

I have joined this site for about a month now. I sincerely enjoy the sisterhood, sincereity, kindness, true concern and fellowship I have witness here. I need to be honest with everyone. I am not a Muslim. I don't know that I will become one. I am a Christian. But I have a hunger to learn about Islam and a heart and concern for Muslims.

How do all of you feel about this? Does anyone mind if I continue in this room? I am looking for answers, fellowship, knowledge and the friendship that women share. Is this ok with everyone?

I am not close to my family. I have only two close friends both very busy with their own families. I crave sisterhood if that makes any sense. I find my old fashioned ideas of family and life and the difference between men and women and how that needs to be respected different from most around me. I have questions and look for guidance but felt I needed to be honest with everyone here with where I am about things. I am going through a rough time currently and dealing with a few issues some religious and some not where I would love and appreciate some ideas and opinions. Thank You for the kindness all of you have already shown me. Thank you for help with my questions about Islam that you have helped me out with so far.

i dont think any one will have a problem with it... but if its sisterhood you want, its best if you ignore my post and the post of a few others, we often accedently stumble in here by purpose.

Assalaamu-alaikum (peace) Cara

<<I need to be honest with everyone. I am not a Muslim. I don't know that I will become one. I am a Christian.>>

I sensed that you seemed to be a bit "worried" about telling us that? Well let me make it clear you have no reason whatsoever to feel concerned about being a christian on this muslim site. I certainly dont have a problem with it, in fact i'm more then happy having people of other faiths amongst us!

<How do all of you feel about this?>

Speaking for myself, i thinks its great!

<Does anyone mind if I continue in this room?>

No. You are more then welcome :)

<I am looking for answers, fellowship, knowledge and the friendship that women share. Is this ok with everyone?>

Well i'm not a women, but its certainly OK with me! This place is like a big muslim community, kind of sharia online state, and although we have our disagreements at times, and things do get heated once in a while, we all get on pretty well most of the time, and its a duty upon all muslims to make others feel welcomed and protected if they choose to be amongst us! I aint sure of the exact Hadith's, but its goes along the lines of "non-muslims who choose to live amongst muslims MUST be protected and treated well, and be made to feel welcome( and should be allowed to practice thier faith as long as they do not openly disregard the islaamic laws of the land", i.e. not walking around in mini skirts, not selling alchohol etc.

<I am going through a rough time currently and dealing with a few issues some religious and some not where I would love and appreciate some ideas and opinions.>

I think we will all be more then happy to offer advice and opinions, i guess you'd prefer it from the sisters, but the brothers will usually jump in and have thier say also :)

Hi Cara,

Welcome, feel at ease and at home here.  It is a wonderful place that makes everyone feel welcome (most of the time).  Be patient and insha'Allah most of your troubles will take care of themselves. I used to be a Catholic myself.  Take care, we're glad to have you here.

Mujaahid  and NewJehad  brothers are great too  :)
I am the only sister and only daughter and only fe cousin and only gave birth to sons (Two terrific sons 22 and 23) so I am fine with brothers answering my posts. My blood brother and I are not close. I am blessed with two pc brothers who I respect greatly. One is in Saudi and the other in Pakistan. When done properly and respectfully a girl can't have to many brothers. And I find their advice and conern and protection a blessing and an honor.

Salaam

Thank You all of you. I feel very welcomed and wanted and it is a nice feeling. Blessings to all of you.

Hi Cara,

I'm non-Muslim as well and have been a member for a while now, although I don't post a lot, mostly just read and learn and think. The people here are terrific and NO ONE has ever made me feel unwelcome. The more time I spend here the more my interest in Islam grows.  I'm sure you will enjoy being here.

Peace,

Sparrow

Hey, we love having non-Muslims in here, that way they can see how friendly and nice Muslims really are :-)   As long as you feel comfortable here then stay!
You really can feel that sisterhood here, can't you?
Al hamdu lillah it's amazing.
Virtual sisters :)
And you can actually feel it for real, not virtually.

Hi M.F.

No, I'm not Muslim, just been fascinated with the religion (and Arab culture) ever since I was a little girl.   My parents were bored with life in the USA and hauled the family of to live in Saudi for a while.  What an amazing time I had! :)

Peace,

Hey Cara and Sparrow,

I am so glad you found this place! I wish i had found this place myself when i was trying to look into islam. As it was, i eventually found out what i wanted to know but it would have been so much easier, lol. I did find that even when i was looking into islam the sisters and brothers were so helpful and what was even better noone tried to get me to convert! What a change from what i was used to! I am a revert and dont post that much as i am trying to learn more myself. Anyway, glad you guys (gals) r here:) Feel free to email me anytime

Oh this is so wonderful to hear!  You are all so kind and giving.  I've been a lurker here for months and have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and learn about Islam and the world around me.  This is the first time I've posted.  Thank you Cara for starting this post and thanks everyone for making me feel so welcome.  Maybe I won't be so shy now...
