It was the worst thing I've ever read about women in Islam in mainstream media ever. Period. ):(

after reading it se7en I was so angry that I wanted to go with the Albanians straight to the radio station and do another show and rip apart every thing in it to shreds, intellectually of course.

I looked at the magazine at the newstand, and I have to agree that the article is biased and in many instances incorrect.  Equally bad and possibly worse, if you can imagine, than the articles about Afghani women was the one on 'The Other Women of Islam' which restated every single sterotype you could possibly think of and what is said about honour killings is simply haram.
For example:
"Honor killings are an example of a practice that is commonly associated with Islam but actually has broader roots." :o
Other, maybe, but broader?  ???     ):(

All of the articles are available online at Time.com, but reading them is really a waste of time, and will only make you angry.

I wonder when the media will smarten up and pay more attention to the truth of Islam than to rumours. [sigh]

Time was *never* good. you should read their history that they themselves wrote. lol.. man can't figure out these people, but they probably know that most people today seem to have short term memories, or they could care less. And if u do care, ur so small no one will care.

National Geographic is bad too! many will tell you that they only promote leftist scientists and their articles and research. :) I guess that leaves nothing. :)  oh wait. your sad. :(

well, if you want to read a good magazine try The Economist (no its not all about the economy), quite good, much better than time or newsweek. try FAIR--this one's U.S. based. very good. Economist is british.

Asalaamu Alaykum Everyone

Please Please PLEASEEE why don't we alllllll commit 5 minutes of our
day w/in these 2 days and send an email to TIME Magazine...they do show
them in the magazine IF they get enough...this is our problem, we
complain, we get upset, but we dont end up doing anything...Please the
leastttt we can do is send an email and tell them several things...about the
outright bias, about the unimportance of the subject...what issss their
point...like someone said earlier they are ONLY reinforcing and
ingraining the thoughts and stereotypes that people have about Muslim
women...I mean in the begining of the article it talks about how (in other
words) Muslims say that Islam has liberated women, well its true 1400 yrs
ago, but now we are the oppressed ones in this modern age...o how dare
us not change our religion to fit this day and age...
The womans section in Jannah.org has great info about womens status in
Islam and what we can answer to them...we can all decide on a point or
several points and each one will send something...we can send them our
own personal opinions, facts...even poems...u guyz plz this article has
made my week the worst ever...we've been having lecture after lecture
at my college about womans status in Islam...i just gave one last night
in my religion class, we had an interview with the local radio stations
specifically to explain certain ayas in the Quran...and all that work
and effort is like all gone...i KNOW Allah SWT has given all of us the
ajir but we need to keep trying, keep working....VOICE OUR
OPINIONNNN....what do they thinkkk they are doing...this is a RELIGION, this is the
FASTEST growing religion, this is what people hold so dearr to their
hearts and its like they dont care...i mean have u guyz thought about how
extreme this isss???? i've read the article over and over again and
wallahi i couldnt come uppp with a point...it was literally stating EVER
SINGLE STEREOTYPE u could think of that has been named or associated
with Muslim woman one country at a time....subhanaAllah...i swear to God
if it wasnt for my faith in Allah SWT and that He is Just and in the end
EVERYONE willl get what they deserve, wallah i dont think I would have
been able to handle this...Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar for sure!

Please can we concentrate on this...do it for the sake of Allah...this
is His Religion, and they have no right to ridicule and humiliate the
Muslims this way...oh i can go on and on...akh ya Rabi.

Jazakum Allah Kula Khair
Insha'Allah I can have some positive input from this
board...inshaAllah.
