| assalaamu alaikum I've finally upgraded to broadband, and now i'm trying to setup internet connection sharing on my home network. Problem is.. that i'm not able to bring it up again. The LAN is working fine and both computers can see each other (connected vi an ethernet hub). I think the prob. is tricky because my ADSL comes in via an extrnal modem and then -> USB port. Anyone know how to get this fixed? I've tried ICS but that isn't working. Kashif Wa Salaam |

| slm First try and get your modem working as a standalone configuration, then tackle ICS (errr, you guys don't tackle do you? well then, just watch out for the wickets. ;) ) |

| assalaamu alaikum bhaloo, the modem is working fine standalone. The LAN is working fine too. I gave up on trying to get ICS to work, so i'm trialing Winroute 4.1. I've had half a result with that, because now the client computer can pick up notifications for new e-mail, but it won't allow surfing. Since i've been given a USB ADSL modem I suspect the problem may lie in the fact that windoze can't pick up a separate dial-up adapter for this new device... or something to do with the fact that its using NDISWAN as a protocol without support for TCP/IP. I dunno, i'm not a hardware person. It should be possible though because a few other people have got it working. I'm waiting for replies to some questions i asked so that i can compare with the settings on my comp. btw. what is this about tackles and wickets? I only watch football... Kashif Wa Salaam |
