Yes, I need some ideas too for Eid (My other plans have been cancelled, was thinking of visiting parents in CA but I don’t want to be treated like a terrorist, checked or may be stopped at every airport, so cancelled that :( )
What we usually do is go to masjid for prayers and reception. But I don’t know what to do after that, especially for kids.  Any Ideas?  Was thinking of going out for lunch or may be dinner, or may be chucke cheese…... (I am sure that would be fun, me and my boys in shinny shalwar qameez them with peshawari toppe(cap) and vest with mirror and embroidery .. I am sure Chucke(is that  is his name?) will personally come and shake our hands :)!!.) or may be distributing sheer khorma(vermicelli) to our neighbors and asking for Eidi…noo, they might not like it (the Eidi part! :))
Ideas please !!

Wasalam

Salaamu Alaikum

i can NOT believe Eid is like two weekends away! subhanAllah... it has flown by soo fast :(

so eid- hmmm what is my family doing? the usual...the area i live in has SOOOOOOOOO many muslims, mashaAllah, so they have this HUGE hall thingy... and it's pretty HUGE and it's pretty packed too! but yeah, so they have one hall thingy for prayer and then you move to the other one that has like bazaar and food and games and those moon bounces thingiez for the kids and what not...so we've been going there and then in the night, we go out to dinner either just our family or with friends :)

but man, when i used to live in chicago, those were the BEST eids on the face of the earth! but that was because all my family lives there and my bestest friends and stuff...but we used to go to parks and have bbq's and just have plain old fun...but obviously, with the cold weather, it would be a pretty bad idea to have a bbq outside in the cold, heheh!

i have exams though during Eid time...i know, that really sucks :( *sniff sniff*

but me and my sister will probably just pray eid namaaz, err, prayer, and then stay for a while in the other hall and see some people i never see until Eid time and then head off to study...

i really dont know what suggestions to give you guys! just try to make Eid as fun as you can.. it's our special holiday :)

okee dokee, take care everyone! enjoy the last ten days of ramadhan while you can, inshaAllah...

I am going to be wishing that all the women will be quiet so that I can hear the khutba!

As-salaamu alaikum

 Inshallah Kathy I will be there with you.  This year the talkers can go downstairs.  Perhaps someone should mention this fact before the khutba.  Maybe post a few signs.  Or make little signs to hold up if it starts to get noisy.  {Quiet Please}

After prayers and sweets our family goes out to breakfast.  Then visiting.  After that I am looking forward to doing something new....I just don't know what?

You should come to Central Mosque in London on eid day. Last year we went on eid day, the women's section was very over crowded and all the women were pushing and shoving each other and some women started to argue with each other. Some women were even shouting at mom's that had bought little kids saying they were taking up precious space and shouldn't have come.  I was petrified and hid behind my mum. :D

salams all:

well we will certainly be going to prayers and exchanging secret eidi gifts (sofia, y'all started that tradition!) and then visiting ppls and eating chocolate!!! ((i banned myself from chocolate for a semester so eid will be really awesome! iA))

but i have a question. can someone explain about the merits of eid prayers? i heard once, i'm not sure if our imam said this or who it was, that whatever u ask for, insha'Allah on eid namaz will be granted??

would love some daleel :)
