A provisional list of the 30-member interim Afghan cabinet approved Wednesday by four delegations meeting near Bonn, Germany. The four delegations represented the northern alliance, the Rome group of exiles loyal to former King Mohammad Zaher Shah, and two smaller
exile groups based in Cyprus and Peshawar, Pakistan.

The posts are followed by the candidates' names, and when known, their ethnicity or delegation affiliation. In some cases, the posts were assigned to a specific delegation or ethnicity, but the names have not been released.

Hamid Karzai. Pashtun. Independent.

Women's Affairs: Sima Samar. Hazara. Rome group. One of two women named to the cabinet.

Defense: Mohammad Fahim. Northern alliance.

Planning: Muhammad Mohaqqeq. Northern alliance.

Water and Electricity: To be named. Northern alliance.

Finance: Hedayat Amin Arsala. Rome group.

Foreign Affairs: Dr. Abdullah. Northern alliance.

Interior: Younous Qanooni. Northern alliance.

Commerce: To be named. Northern alliance.

Mines and Industries: To be named. Uzbek.

Small Industries: To be named. Northern alliance.

Information and Culture: Raheen Makhdoom. Rome group.

Communication: To be named. Northern alliance.

Labor and Social Affairs: To be named. Northern alliance.

Hajj (Pilgrimage): Maulawi Balkhi. Hazara.

Martyrs and Disabled: To be named. Northern alliance.
