| asalamau alaikum, Hey everyone, I had a question, I used to play guitar before I accepted Islam, for oh... some 11 odd years... got pretty good... had a band... a part in a concert... a chance at asolo spotlight in concert... then when i heard guitar was haraam, I dropped it like a hot potato... probabyl forgot how to play it... lol but can anyone back me up with any word on guitar playing? is it haram, or a sign of the last day? What about music and stuff (NON-Islamic music, but stil not profane). asalamu laiakum. abdullah,. |

| aslaamu alaikum, ok i should've done a search on this before I posted, and seen the previous thread and yes i now know there are a number of different opinions... If it's okay, i'd rather not ask another imam, but people on the board... is that okay? i'd love to hear the variety of answers i get and back ups by reference? really, it's not so touchy to me, so whether its in favour or not doesn't matter, as long as Islam is in favour. asalaamu alaikum. abdullah,. |

| [slm] There is this book called "The Islamic Ruling on Music and Singing in the Light of the Qur'an, The Sunnah and the Consensus of Our Pious Predecessors" By: Abu Bilal Mustafa al-Kanadi. The Publisher: Abul-Qasim Bookstore It gives references to a number of Ayahs and Ahadith as well as commetary.
