[slm] Reflections on Mineola Trail: Today I visited a meadow I hadn't been to in a while, Memories of wild flowers blooming Butterflies dancing Life entrancing me, Despite apprehension's whispers "You'll find death there And trust me, death rarely smiles!!!" The weather was beautiful Clouds suspended on the bluest Sky Trees resonating rhymes I could sing in my heart "Most High! Most High!!" I visited this meadow I hadn't seen in A while, The path was sandy I felt the beach nearby The winds were Calming Bird songs My lullabies The soft creek Sparkling colorful Rocks Beaded with Tiny shells Crystals dazzling My eyes. The path took me On many journeys Changing colors Reddish to clay To golden hues I trudged uphill To catch the suspended View Death remains undefined For me this experience Was nothing new. I saw the beauty of Creation singing all Her bittersweet blues I saw green filtering Out of dust I saw the old Manifested in the raging Youth. The path told me much More My soul focused on the Roots To Allah we belong To Him we bear our Fruits I walked home My step light Tranquility cloaking Me with her Maghrib clouds I couldn't wait to put on My shroud Prostration My soul's solitary applaud Today I visited a meadow I hadn't been to in a while Alhamdullillah My next stop the Masjid Ramadhan is waving Her final goodbyes :-) Maliha [wlm] |
