Street Dawah

aslaamu alaikum,

This idea has probably been done to death in some cities,

But I was thinking of starting a group in my city for street dawah-

kind of a reflection of my best friends' Christian group for Street-Run Missions...

Like, get a bunch of  guys together every Thrusday night, TRY to make some simple sandwiches and maybe make ome hot chocolate, and walk around certain areas in downtown towards the eveningtime to distribute them and hang out with some people there...

I see these Chrsitian groups doing it all the time; heck, even Hare Krishnas do it, and I thought-

Why aren't we out there?  In some ways, I think we have even more of an advantage since, Wallahi, muslims guys (to me at least) look a bit tougher and more thugged in my area to fit in, as well, there are many disenchanted muslim youth are out there as well.  And safety? Trust in Allah SWT and travel in a group with a car... believe me people need to see the kindness of Islam-

In fact, We are at this rock bottom I feel in terms of helping EVERYONE out... we only stick to our own and that's wrong.  And I get so ticked when I see this cultural kind of "eeewwww... street people?" and the "respectable" elders all frowning in disgust... these people on the streets have drinking and drug problems, illegitimate children, violence and no jobs many-a-times... as well as a lot of hardship and pain, and often are not blind to seeing any form of solace that is granted to them- but it seems Islam is not out there enough, I feel personally responsible.

Anybody here with any tips/stories/info/interest in this kind of Street Dawah? asalaamu alaikum. abdullah,.

The Tabligi Jamaat goes out and finds Muslims and tries to convince them to practice. My brother and dad do this, there might be a chapter in your city.
Yeah, many of the people who seem to need Islam the most(if there is such a thing)are the ones least informed and approached about it.
