Welcome to the board :)  Feel free to ask any questions that you have, or make comments.. none of us here are scholars, but we'll do our best to help you out :)

About makeup at the mosque.. there really isn't a particular "dress code" that comes with visiting a mosque.  Sometimes, just to be respectful, women who visit wear clothing similar to the type Muslim women wear, ie long, loose, a scarf over the head, etc.  But this isn't something required.. there isn't a uniform or anything. :)  It's more just a sign of respect for the people that go there and for the atmosphere.  It really depends on the mosque you go to; some are more lax about this, and others are not.

Guess I didn't answer your question :P

Just something else I wanted to comment on.. Muslims aren't really supposed to have girlfriends or boyfriends.  Of course, it's allowed for a guy and a girl to get to know each other for the purpose of marriage, but even then their interaction is supposed to be relatively distant, especially in terms of physical contact.

Ok, hope this isn't too much to take in :)  Let us know your thoughts..

peace

Thanks for your response to my question.  It did actually help me out.  I didn't want to walk into Mosque and disrespect any of the women or men.  I do refer to him as my boyfriend and he does refer to me as his girlfriend.  Guess it is an American thing no matter what your religion is.

Another question.  I know that you are to pray 5 times a day but are there Muslims that don't do this.  Why I ask this is becuz I was raised of course as a Christian and believe in God but I don't practice my beliefs.  I don't pray each day or do attend church becuz I have a lot of issues about Christianity.  All that I know is that I believe that there is a God.  Hope this makes sense.

Islam is based on 5 basic priciples, which we refer to as the pillars of Islam.

The 5 daily prayers are one of the pillars and is compulsory.

Hope this answers the question :-)
