Ibn Mas'ud relates that the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"Shall I tell you of those whom the Fire is forbidden to touch? It is forbidden to touch every accessible, easy, soft, gentle one."

The Fires of Hell are forbidden to touch every Muslim who is easy to approach, easy-going, soft and gentle . . . How well does this descritption fit you?

Are you easy to approach or is your nose stuck in the air making people think twice before approaching you? When people make mistakes are you easy and quick to overlook or do you make a big deal out of even the smallest mistakes? Are you soft and gentle with those around you or do people dread you for your fiery temper?

Some people are a pleasure to know because of how much more beautiful they make your life. They are always ready with a smile, a kind word, a gentle pat on the back or a warm hug. And when you cross their lines, they are always quick to forgive you. We love such people and have a special place for them in our heart. And Allah, the Lord of the Worlds, He too loves such a person. He has forbidden the Fires of Hell to even touch their skin. Straight to Paradise it will be for them. Because such a person is rare to find . . .

Be more easy with those whom you deal with, more gentle, softer. Overlook the mistakes that people sometimes make. And make it easy for people to approach you with a freindly smile and down to earth attitude.

If you can do this . . . not only will you be a rare to find Muslim but the Fires of Hell will never touch your skin . . .
