My last post got "drowned out," on this topic and I want to keep you all updated!

The Islamic Awareness Center in my city has been fundamental in providing public displays of Ramadan in our museums and mall. It has been well receieved and people have actually written letters to the editor about how much they are enjoying them.

We are now in the planning stages for Hajj and Eid-ul-Adha. Our theme will be Muslims Around the World.

In a previous- buried post- I asked for you to send me kufi's,men's head covers, scarves and/or outfits- typical of your ethnicticity, suitable for display.

Insha Allah this will be successful in providing essential dawah.

:-) Mariam! I receivied your scarf on Thursday! It is gorgeous! I only had it in my hands for 1 hour!- A Children's Museum called and asked us for a display- It is all ready hanging in the museum!

Jazak Allahu Khirun!
I would like to send you a scarf (its kinda more like a wrap than a scarf) from Mombasa, Kenya.
Thank you Maliha!! - I got them today! How wonderful they are- the material is very different than I have ever felt before. I love the designs- I have never seen these.- but then again I don't think I know anyone from Africa!

JazakAllah khirun. The Museum is a go for the end of February- Hajj- Muslims from all over the world!

I am hoping that some of the brothers will send in a kufi- head dress to me!

-- in my hopes- an outfit....

What are the different names for the 'head dresses' the men wear?

I know the Saudi's wear the "A`gal" . Its kinda like the headscarf but they put the two sides on the back and then they wear this black band on top to keep it together...
(okay that was a real bad attempt to try and describe it:):):) )

In Swahili the Kufi's are called "Kofia".

i hope this helps...

What did the flyers say?

Are you talking about a display for the library too?
- About Hajj?
We better sit down and plan a trip to Home Depot- Kabba, Zam zam (fountain), 2 mountains , 3 pillars- stones, tents, cave/Arafat, ?Medina. JoAnn Fabric- Irham- sacrifice station, 7 boundry staions, transportation/ maps, etc...

Wow- we need some benefactors!

The mall dispaly was taken down on the 16th. We had to pay 2 million dollars of insurance!!-

The Ramadan display at the Museums are still up and Robersons goes until 1/7 and the Discovery center is until 1/5

Allah who Allum- there was water/roof damage at Robersons- our rugs, clothes and sittees were affected- but I think can be restored. Today Mary and I went to assess the damage and scaled down the exhibit- instead of taking it down.

Alhumdullillah- the the Quran, Discover Islam Posters and Hadith books were undamaged!

It is me again.  I wanted to tell you about the mall exhibit
insurance policy.  We didn't take it down because of the insurance, The Mall
had set dates for the displays to go up and come down.  all exhibitors
have to get there own policies.

What an odd date (12/16)to take down the Ramadan display. Do you know why? When did the Hannakah and Christmas ones come down?

I modified the post.

Meri-I just received the beautiful scarf!

JazakAllah who Khirun.

It is from Turkey- pink and red and white- with delicate hand crochet around its borders!

Thank you!

Monday we are meeting to begin planning for the display- i am so glad I got it before that.

Keep them coming- so far I do not have any from pakistan- and boy do you guys have some wonderful material. How about from Mexico? Ukraine?Eskimos? Iran/Iraq? Germany? India? Britain?

How about you guys? Any Kufis?

By the way- when you send one- and the return address is in your real name- make sure you put a note in there with your Medina name!
