If a person moves into a house and the previous owner had a dog, how
do you make house clean for prayer ? Does a person needs to do
something? The flooring is wood, not carpet which can be shampooed !

Its the saliva of the dog that has the najaasa in it.

I would do a cleaning just for my own peace of mind.

I am not a scholar.

This is what I would do.

Mop the floor- with wood soap /water 7 times and ask Allah swt for forgiveness.

Jazak Allah khair for the replies.

I was thinking of using wood polish or something once only but i think Sis.Kathy is right (I will do it once and my husband can do it rest of the six times ;))

eeeeeeeeeeeee I am so scared of dogs. But if I wanted a cat, hamster or totoise would I be allowed to let it live in my house or would it be considered dirty and unclean?

I want to buy a pet for my niece (but i want to play with it too) but my sister keeps saying its dirty and not good to have a dirty animal in the house you pray in.

Any suggestions on animals that would be okay and please don't say goldfish :)

Cats are clean . Somehow whenever we bought goldfish , they died- I don’t know why. My son thinks that I kill them since I always joke after buying them that we will bar-b-Que. them
I am sooo scared of dogs !! I atleast pretend not to be afraid when  my kids are with me so that they don’t get to be afraid of dogs too, but they are smart and have sensed that I am scared of dogs :). One time while we were getting out of the car I saw a dog I went back in the car pretending that I came in back to tell  them to look at a cute dog, my older one told me not be scared since the dogs was on leash!!
Also another time me and my younger one were walking and there was a small cute little dog in one of the yard playing . We were very much out of way of that dog(otherwise I wouldn’t be walking there) and I thought we will turn  before that house. All of sudden this little dog came running towards us , I was so scared I just picked up my son and jumped on the car, yes on the car which was parked there( I am sure that must have been a sight !!). luckily some teenage kids  were passing by and they picked up dog and gave it back to the owner and only after the dog was out of sight I came down of the car. It was not even a big dog!!
Any way I have millions embarrassing stories like this .
Does any one have a cure for this.

Well, when we moved, we did it with the water and soil mixture once, then with water 6 times. We only use wood polish afterwards, like a couple of days later.

Yeah, go to England ;)

I was so MEGAWATT[/B] scared of dogs. If I see a dog, a 100m away at the end of the road, I'd go for a 400m detour.

But one day, I was minding my own business, sleeping in the train alone, well, before I got those eyes closed. I think I was going back to Liverpool from Southampton at that time. And suddenly I sensed that I wasn't alone... so when I opened my eyes. I saw a dog at my feet! Ahhh!

I was sitting on those seats with a table. And then, he jumped on it!I was so scared... but alhamdulillah, kept calm and told the boy, the owner of the dog, I presume.. to GO AWAY!!!! Naah... just said politely and calmly... like "I'm SCARED OF DOGS!!! AHHHhhh!"

And he was like, "But he won't hurt you" and I'm like..yeah well... but I'm SCARED OF DOGS!!!

Naah... seriously, I was calm, and said... errr, I'm scared of dogs and smiled with a pleading look. He went away to sit with his parents. Fancy scaring a sleeping lady ;-D

But I think the English loves dogs, so, I got used to have them around. Not as scared as before.

Now, I can go in the lift together with a dog.

Hope this helps...if it does ;)

Wassalam!:-)
