| Bismillah and salam, Listening to Sheikh Kishk about "the road to Arafa", he says that instead of taking chemical pills a woman can drink the araka juice and it delays the menstration. It is most common in the land of hijaz subhan'Allah. Does anyone know much about this juice? why aren't more muslims using it? When I looked it up on the net it sounds like it has alcohol? can something from a tree have alcohol in it or do they mean they take it and do something to it? |

| Wa Lakum Salam, I do not know about the Arak tree in particular, but certain trees can have alcohol within their fruits. Have you not seen the video of all the African animals getting drunk under the tree from eating its fruits? Plants and trees can develop all sorts of chemicals and hormones as a defence against foragers, or as nourishment specifically for insects who are the caretakers and protectors of certain plants. I watched a special on 'Miracles of the Bible' that went on to suggest that there is a plant in the mideast that actual creates something flammable in its leaves. And so when a person mistakenly knocks over some rocks and they spark in the dry heat of the desert, that the plant starts on fire. They actual produced this as a possible explanation for the burning bush in the story of Musa, alayhis salam, audhu billah. Anyway, plants are really wonders, and can produce just about anything. I think that I read that the most common contraception in Europe and North Africa for some time in the middle ages, was well known and used among Muslims in North Africa and elsewhere. This was some kind of tree or bark as well-maybe it is the Arak? It had something to do with imitating hormones? Sorry, I am not more help. Regards, QAK |

From the Qruan: 036.079 Say: He will give life to them Who brought them into existence at first, and He is cognizant of all creation 036.080 He Who has made for you the fire (to burn) from the green tree, so that with it you kindle (fire). 036.081 : Is not He Who created the heavens and the earth able to create the like of them? Yea! and He is the Creator (of all), the Knower. That tree is the markh and the 3afar. If they didn't have ways to start fire they can just get two sticks of the branches and they would be still not dried and it would start a fire to have the friction of them. http://quran.al-islam.com/ the arabic site has tafseer of ibn katheer, jalalain, 6ubari and alqur6ubi masha'Allah. |
