Assalaamu-alaikum DO any of you guys remeber He-man, the cartoon series from the 1980's? I do, in fact i loved it, i was obsessed with he-man as a kid!!! However i never managed to buy my own as back them my parents simply couldnt afford it. I used to look at other kids and think "i wish i could have that he-man toy". I once remeber being at the dentist, i was about 7, and on the window of the dentists room thier were several heman toys, including he-mans cat, and he-man. I couldnt stop looking at them, and after i had my teeth checked, and got of the big dentists chair, the dentists assistant, a nurse, came over to me with a box of stickers and asked me which one i wanted. I pointed over to the window and told her i wanted the he-man toys! But she said i couldnt have them, so i was all sad, and gloomily chose a little sticker and went home! That was the closest i ever came to getting my own he-man.AFter 1988 i dont ever remember seeing a heman toy in the shops, which was rather dissapointing to such a big he-man fan. Many years later, about 14 years later, in fact only 1 week ago, the day before eid, i saw a shop, from the outside it looked like one of those "waynes world" type of shops, which was owned by the "funky dude" types, you know them skateboarders type. So i went in, and to my shock, and delight, thier before me, for the first time in 14 years, i saw a he-man toy in a shop! I was delighted, i felt like jumping up with joy, and dancing around the shop, but i kept my calm, looked throught the different figures, and found the main he-man figure!!! I was soo happy!!! It cost 18 pounds, but to me it was well worth it. After all i had waited 14 years for this moment!!! And so i bought the heman toy, took it home, and now in proudly sits on a cupboard in an upstairs room! Obviously i dont play with it, as that would be a bit childish (but hey i'm weak, i can't help it at times)!!! Did any of you guys ever have any he-man toys when you were young? Were any of you guys he-man fans? What about thundercats? That was cool!!! Wasalaam |

I had a few toys like Action Man and so forth, but going with my personality I always wanted a Bagpuss cat. I loved Bagpuss when I was young but never got the toy and the other day I went on to Amazon's site and wowowow I saw Bagpuss, sadly it was out of stock otherwise I would have ordered and for you as well since it also goes with your personality. If i had the money I think I'd give one to everyone on the board. salaams Hanif |

He-man he has the power to pick up a flower it takes him an hour da da......... I can't remember the rest but that was a song pple used to sing when the he-man craze came about. One toy I think really rocked was TRANSFORMERS ROBOTS IN DISGUISE!! But my parents never bought me one :( I ended up with a Barbie instead and I remember shaving her hair and twisting her legs off, she wasn't as double jointed as I'd anticipated ;) H. |
slm BTW: I have never seen this Bagpuss cartoon program.
That's because Bagpuss is from 1950's or something........I think my grandparents used to watch it in their generation when Elvis was still alive and sideburns were in. |

asalaamu alaikum, that's funy, i was gonna ask about He-Man my self.. I vaguely remember Arsalan's quote of He-Man every time i think of the toy "Major shirk cartoon" lol I used to be a He Man addict... even in India they were crazy about him I had He Man, Skeletor, Battlecat, Skeletor's cat, and yep, the bug thing, CASTLE GRAYSKULL! That was hype... Of course, my ninja turtles would play on it as well... lol Tranformers was hype.. but Ninja Turtles was more my thing And all the X-Men ppl... we are SO all in one age group lol I had every X-Men card, knew everything about them, had the most X Men action figures out of everyone i knew, and stil have some very old comic books but I realize as I got older, we gotts watch out, because as kids its all fun and games, but the image makers will be called to question, and we are old enough to know thap He-Man does not "have the power". lol its all good though, just pure memories. asalaamu alaikum. abdullah,. |

It was rated the third best cartoon or kids show during a recent BBC poll, it only got beaten by Seaseme Street(u know that crazy yellow American bird) and the Muppet Show. They've recently started to show it on Satelite TV. Bro Bhaloo you ain't see a kids program if u aint seen Bagpuss. Classic man, classic, get man on DVD ? ;) |

You guys rock! I loved the Muppet Show! I remember it used to be on Friday evenings. Fozzy bear was my favourite, I even had a T-shirt with his pic (yeah sad or what!) which my mum made me wear with purple trousers ;-D When you look back on it now, you can really see why kids love those characters - they were simple and cool with reassuring and friendly voices. Apart from that I liked the characters from Fraggle Rock, they were cute and loved the song "Down at fraggle rock!" That rocked!! But the story lines were crap. Inspector Gadget was cool :) Oh I had the He-Man toys, Skeletor, Man-at-Arms, Ram-Man and all the enemy beasts, can't remember their names though. |

Salaam Being the second child of four and with only dad as the sole breadwinner and mom as THE disciplinarian, I never had any toys when I was young. Everytime I wanted a toy mom would ask me to calculate the cost of the toy and how much food that could have bought us. So I guess I only had my imagination to play with :) But I was a Sesame Street and Muppet Show fan-atic. "Its time to unroll the carpets, Its time to light the lights, Its time to watch the muppets in the Muppet Show tonite". LOL. I hated adventure cartoons like He-man or X-men or Fabulous Four. But surprisingly I like Brokercop MachineBlaster (in the early 70s). When I was 11 I was hit by a drunk driver and had to be admitted to the hospital for fractured bones and broken leg. My rich uncle came to visit me and I piteously asked for a Oscar the Grouch stuff toy cos he is my favourite. My uncle bought me a stiff plastic soldier costing $1. I stared at it. I never asked anyone for a toy ever again :) Wassalam. |

Asalaamu Alaikum ;-) I have to agree with Bro Hanif on this one because Bagpuss was a classic. My fave character was Professor Yaffle and they way he took ages to come down those steps. ;-) Other favourites included Fingermouse, Jamie and the Magic Torch and of course Rainbow. I mean where else can you get away with a man wearing a bear costume but on children's TV? ;-) |
