| [slm] I pulled these out of my archives...cuz i'm an addict at sharing:):):) Tomorrow’s Dream: I gaze into the eyes of the future. Today just seems so bleak. Yesterday I was too meek, to change the reality of my being. My vision was occupied with lack of precision. Spring colors floating in the air, I am nothing but a stare of a universe onto itself. What I see makes my eyes tear As the sky peels I watch the rain fall, Blood drops from Palestine, kids naked on channel nine, while AIDS stills African time. Initiated into a womanhood sublime, I realize from this madness I can not hide, My spirit’s sadness remains untold, As I switch on my creative soul to paint canvasses of the blues so maybe tomorrow… Tomorrow We Will Change The News. National PUBLIC Radio: Every morning I listen to the radio catching glimpses of stories far and distant from my soul. Every morning I hear them spinning tales of our times, that Israel is not committing war crimes, Arafat should placate the youth with some empty rhymes, While they continue to build settlements surrounded by land mines, I hear that AIDS is Africa’s new form of genocide, The world still turns a blind eye, While Bush passes his tax bill to thrill the rich so maybe the downward spiral of the economy will switch, Nasdaq averages creating savages out of wall street, interest rates being cut yet projected earnings they still can not meet. I hear that enough money will give you a tour of space, but then Colombians are working hard to produce drugs for the rest who can’t escape. Terrorists are keeping the masses awake to society’s madness, and children realize young that there is nothing at stake. I hear that conservation and education are just rhetoric because as funds continue to be slashed Plans are redrawn to rehash the earth’s womb for more energy supplies. I hear about genetically modified food, human cloning is supposed to be good, animals being burned by the multitude because their diseased from mouth to foot. I hear about the rich’s woes, I hear about obesity and wars, I hear their debates, their vision, their insecurities, their hate. Every morning I tune in to the packaged chaos of this world My soul bearing witness to the unfolding of prophecies foretold. [wlm] |
