A misguided friend

Greetings of peace –

I’m a non muslim woman and this is my first time visiting this message
board. I have a female friend who is a muslim convert. She was a
frequent member of this board and that’s why I’m here. I found out just
recently that she is walking away from what she once called “the truth”. It
saddens me because she was once a very active muslim and spoke
admirably about your religion and now she has turned her back on it. I don’t
know what happened to make her feel that way. I have asked another muslim
and she said that my friend was misguided and that’s her destiny. I
think it’s much more than that. My friend is depressed and I’m desperate.
If you have any suggestions on how to get through to her please tell
me! I suggested to her to read more Koran and pray for help but she said
she’s numb and has no feeling. :(

Looking for answers for a friend in need,

Joanna

Hello Joanna:

It could be a number of factors:  family conflicts, influence from friends, feeling overwhelmed or rejected, etc.  But imaan (faith) is like waves in the ocean, it goes up and down.  Perhaps she needs the company and kind words of fellow muslims to encourage her, or maybe some kind of retreat.  Maybe she is going through some hard times where Allah is testing her faith.

I commend you for your concern even though you are not a Muslim, please let us know how she is doing.

There must be some thing that must be  troubling her, ask her what is it? its unlikely she may reveal it to you
The  best way to help your freind is to get into her mind, for that
you will have  to red the quraan and understand  the  way she thinks and feels
why dont you give it a try?
