Bismillah and salam,
Does anyone know where I can find a list of Arabic words, like insha'Allah, alhemdulilah, masha'Allah, etc. and what they mean and when they are said.

This is an e-mail i recieved from a brother few days ago.

(1) When starting an action - Say Bismillah, (Bi=in, ism-i = name of, Allah. In the name of Allah - I begine)

(2) When making an Intention - Say Insha'allah, (in=if, sha'=he willed, Allah. If Allah wills)

(3) When something is being praised - Say Subhan Allah, (Glory be to Allah)

(4) When in Pain or Distress - Say Yaa Allah,

(5) When Expressing Appreciation - Say Masha'Allah, (ma=that, sha'=he willed, Allah. As Allah willed)

(6) When Thanking Someone - Say Jazak-Allah, (jaza=rewarded, ka=to  you, May Allah reward you)

(7) When Awakening From Sleep - Say Laa-Ilaha-Illalla, (Laa=No, ilaaha=god, illa=but,  Allah. There is no God except Allah)

(8) When Taking an Oath - Say Wallah-Billah, (Wallah=By Allah, Billah=with Allah)

(9) When Sneezing - Say Alhamdulillah, (Alhamdu=the praise, Lillah=for Allah. All praises are for Allah)

(10) When another Muslim sneezes - Say Yar-Hamok Allah, (yarham=be merciful, ka=this is a particle added  to other words for second person, singular, male; its plural is kum, As a child I learnt yarhamukumullah. Some reader may please correct what is right. Allah be merciful to you)

(11) When Repenting Over a Sin - Say Astaghfirullah, (Astaghfir=Parden,  imperative of ghafara. O'Allah, parden me)

(12) When Giving Charity - Say Fi-Sabi-Lillah, (Fi=in, Sabeel= way, path, Li=for, Lillah=for Allah. In the path of Allah)

(13) When Having Love For Someone - Say Lihub-Bullah, (Li=for, hubbu=love, For the love of Allah)

(14) When Getting Married - Say Aman-To-Billah, (Aamantu=I believe, - literally it is past tense but in Arabic this is the usual style.  bi=in, Allah. I believe in Allah,  I have imaan in Allah)

(15) When Parting From Someone - Say fi-Amaan-Allah, (fi=in, amaan-i=security (of), Allah. You are in the care of Allah )

(16) When a Problem arises - Say Tawkalto Al-Allah, (Tawakkaltu=I rely, Ala=on, Allah)

(17) When Pleasantness appears - Say Fata-Barak-Allah, (fa=so, then. Tabaarakallah = Blessed be Allah)

(18) When Unpleasantness appears - Say Na-Uzoo-Billah, (naoozu=we seek shelter, aoozu= I seek shelter, bi=in Allah)

(19) When Participating In Prayer - Say Ameen

(20) When Death Message is Received - Say Inna-Lillahi-Wa Inna Ilaihi Raji'un

(Inna=surely, lillahi= (they were) for Allah, wa inna= and surely, ilaihi=to Him, raajioon=they returned)


Dear Fellow Muslims. This is a barebone word to word translation. Surely you must have read these in better clothed words - If there is any mistake in this, please correct me.
