$5,000 AWARD FOR BEST PAPER

The Institute for International Research, in association with the Dow Jones Indexes and iHilal Holdings LLC has organized the First Annual International Islamic Finance Forum.

The Forum will be held in Dubai, UAE on March 17th, 18th, and 19th of 2002. The Institute for International Research, along with its partners in this forum, the Dow Jones Indexes and iHilal Holdings LLC, invite scholars and practitioners of Islamic finance for all around the globe to participate.

As a special effort in developing the available body of knowledge pertaining to Islamic finance, the organizers have issued this special call for papers from students around the globe who feel they have something to contribute to the field of Islamic finance.  The winner will be presented an award at the Gala Dinner on March 17, 2002.  Submissions are welcome from students at all levels of study; i.e. Undergraduate, Masters, Doctoral, etc.

Interested participants are requested to submit a one-page summary by
January 10, 2002.  We will notify those selected from these summaries to submit the full texts of the papers - a maximum length of 20 pages including footnote pages. The full papers will then be due in by February 20, 2002.

Requested topics are as follows:

- Understanding Muslim Demographics in Western Nations.
- New or Unique Distribution Methods in Western Nations.
- Developing Trade Between Islamic Countries.
- Issues and Case Studies on the Development of Islamic Capital Markets
       Around the World.
Developing the Islamic Venture Capital and Private Equity Industry.
