How do you want Allah to deal with you?

On the authority of Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"A man from among those who were before you was called to account. Nothing in the way of good was found for him except that he used to have (business) dealings with people and, being well-to-do, he would order his servants to overlook the debt of the man who had difficulty in repaying. The Prophet (PBUH) said that Allah said to this man: We are worthier than you of such an action. Overlook his sins."

(Bukhari and Muslim)

All Praise is to Allah the Most Wise and the Most Fair . . . As we deal with our fellow humans, so too will Allah deal with us when we meet Him. We have to find the strength and courage to forgive those whom we are angry with, help those who are in need of our help, show mercy to those who need compassion, give excuses to those who let us down . . . Because, truly, there will come a Day when WE will desperately need to be forgiven, helped, shown mercy to and given excuses by . . . The Lord of the Worlds when we stand before His Mighty Throne for Judgement.

Never forget: How you deal with others is how the Most High will deal with you . . .

The Real Giver...

Anas relates that the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"Allah is pleased with His Servant who eats a morsel and praises Allah for it and drinks a mouthful and praises Allah for it."

(Muslim)

Simple . . . But how many of us remember to do it . . . To thank Allah everytime He provides us with food and drink. Every morsel of food and and every sip of drink that reaches you . . . is from the Provider Allah . . . No matter through what source it reached you (your mother's cooking, a home delivery, a dinner invitation or your own whip-up) it doesn't really matter, because the True Provider is Allah . . . Don't get so caught up in the gift that it makes you forget the Giver. Remember to thank Him for satisfying your hunger and quenching your thirst!

And don't complain about food . . . We always find something wrong with the food we eat. But the Prophet (peace be upon him) NEVER complained about food . . . If he didn't like something, he left it without any comment . . . Instead of complaining, why not be thankful that you even have food to eat??

True Muscles...

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Holy Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him said:

"The strong one is not the one who is strong in wrestling, but the one who controls himself in anger."

(Bukhari and Muslim)

One of the most difficult things in this world to do . . . is to forgive. Not everyone is capable of such noble action. This is the level of the Prophets and of Allah Himself. They forgive and forgive and forgive, even when they have right to punish. But as this hadith shows, in the Sight of Allah, strength is not measured by muscles, but by your ability to control yourself when angered. Because this takes the strength of FAITH!!! And so the strongest of us in the Sight of Allah . . is he who can forgive when angered.

It takes a real faith to be able to forgive someone. It takes a person who knows with certainty that Allah is Watching and that Allah greatly appreciates those who forgive. Because, He, Glory be to Him, is the One who forgives again and again.

But one of the most beautiful rewards of forgiving someone . . . Is that Allah will forgive you. On the Day when you need it most, when you stand before Allah's Throne for Judgement . . . If your record shows that you used to forgive others when you had a right to take action against them . . . Then Allah will repay you for your efforts. He will forgive you the sins that He has a right to take action against you for. As you do, so you will be done by. Allah is the Most Fair . . . And He is the Most Appreciative . . .If you, a mere servant forgive others . . . Then what do you think the Lord of all Servants, will do for you, on the Day you meet Him? Of course He will forgive you . . . .

So next time someone hurts you, count to 10 and remember the Day when you will be called to stand in front of Allah for judgement . . . And you will be wishing that you had forgiven even one person in your life.

As Allah revealed to Abu Bakr after someone spread false rumors and started a scandal about his daughter Aisha . . But EVEN for this look what Allah told Abu Bakr :

"Pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allah should forgive you? And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Sura An-Nur, Verse 22)

Make it beautiful...

On the authority of Abu Ya'la Shaddad ibn Aus (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"Verily Allah has commanded perfection (ihsan) in all things. Thus if you kill, kill excellently. And if you slaughter, slaughter excellently. Let each one of you sharpen his blade and let him spare suffering to the animal he slaughters."

(Muslim)

This hadith is very important. It teaches a beautiful lesson for those who wish to take it. Allah has created everything in the most perfect fashion. And likewise, He loves His Servants to do everything they do in the most perfect way they can. Make everything you do more beautiful . . . Simply because the Eyes of The Beautiful Allah see it.

When you drive . . . Drive in the best way you can. Keep your car clean (with a box of tissue in it for your guests). Allow people to pass who need to. Do not speed, even if you can get away with it.

When you cook . . . Cook in the best way you can. Be clean, put your heart into it. Add all the spices you need. Put in the loving touch!

When you give a gift . . . Do it the most beautiful way you can. Find out what they really love and find the most beautiful wrapping paper.

When you work . . . Work the best way you can. Even if your boss does not see you . . . The Boss of the Universe does. Do your very best, don't slack off, put your heart and soul into it.

And when you pray . . . Pray the best way you can.

Allah is the Perfect One and He loves to see His Servants striving for perfection in all that they do. . . Whatever you do . . . Make it beautiful . . . Even if nobody sees that extra effort you put in to make it more perfect . . . Isn't it enough that Allah sees it? . . . .

Whatever you do . . . Make it beautiful . . . This is first class Islam . . . .

Bilal's Footsteps . . .

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (may Allah's Blessings and Peace be upon him) said to Bilal:

"Tell me, Bilal, of your most hopeful action since your acceptance of Islam because I have heard the echo of your footsteps in Paradise in front of me?"

Bilal replied: "I do not consider any of my actions more hopeful (of acceptance from Allah) than that whenever I have made my ablutions (wudu) during the day or night I have each time offered by way of prayer that which Allah has made easy for me."

(Bukhari and Muslim)

Noone knew about this action except Bilal . . . . and Allah.

And look how great Allah's Reward was . . .

Do you have an action that ONLY Allah knows about? A deed so sincere that no soul knows about, no human eyes have seen, no human ears have heard about . . . A deed that only Allah knows about?

This is what truly makes an action special . . . when you are so sincere that you seek only the Pleasure of Allah.

Give away something you absolutely love, wake up at night to pray, visit an orphanage, give out some charity, really forgive someone who hurt you, submit to Allah's Decree in something you don't like. . . or like Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) pray 2 rak'aats each time you make wudu . . . and keep it "a secret" between only you and Allah.

Then, on the Day that you finally meet Him, you will have something special to present to Him . . . something you can be sure was sincerely for His Pleasure.

Spend...

Asma' bint Abu Bakr relates that the Holy Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said to her:

"Do not hold back or else Allah will hold back from you.  Spend and do not accumulate, and do not keep back what is spare or else Allah will hold back from you."

(Bukhari and Muslim)

Why are we so stingy? . . . Give, and you will be given by Allah. Spend, and you will be spent on by Allah . . .  Why are we so stingy?  We are dealing with One Who pays 700 for 1. Why are we so stingy? . . . Give, for the sake of Allah, and you will be surprised!  To Allah belongs the Treasures of the Heavens and Earth.   He owns every door, every road, and every key . . . So, why are we so stingy?  . . . Give of everything that Allah has given you . . . Give of your money, your time, your knowledge, your car, your house, your energy, your love, your care, your listening . . . The more you give, the MORE you will receive from where you least expected . . . So, why are we so stingy? . . . . You are giving to The Generous One . . . SO WHY ARE WE SO STINGY ? ? ? ? ? . . .

Faces of Light...

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Holy Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"Our Lord, Glory be to Him, descends every night to the sky of the Earth when there remains the last third of the night, and He says: "Who is saying a prayer to Me so that I may answer it? Who is asking Me for something so that I may give it to Him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me so that I may forgive him? And He continues like this until the dawn."

(Muslim)

Allah, the Greatest King of the Heavens and the Earth, comes down to the sky of the Earth, every single night, waiting for anyone to come and share the night with Him. Everybody gets to meet Allah 5 times a day, but it is only those who really love Him, who make the effort to get out of bed, to meet Him in the night. Why not try getting out of bed a bit before the dawn prayer? In the still and calm of the night, one's heart is free to focus on Allah. To complain to Him of all our troubles, to share with Him our fears and our worries, to ask Him for everything we need . . . Any prayer made during this time is guranteed an answer by Allah . . . Why not try it, why not be of those who spent the night in the company of Allah . . .

When Hasan Al Basri was asked why certain people have the most beautiful faces he said it was because they spent the night in the Company of The Compassionate One, so He gave them light from His Light . . . And this is why their faces are so beautiful, they are sparkling with the Light of Allah . . .

Be Clean...

Abu Malik al-Harith ibn Asim al-Ashari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may the blesssings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"Cleanliness is half of faith."

(Muslim)

This is one of the parts of Islam that is most forgotten . . . Even though it is one of the most important . . .

Cleanliness!!!

Remember to keep your room clean, your desk at work, your clothing, and most importantly . . . your self!

Although it sounds obvious, we might not realize that this is half of faith. The Muslim should always be clean.

We should take extra care of how we present ourselves. Wherever you go, you are a walking example of Islam.

And for men - make sure to be pleasant smelling . . . One of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) favorite things from this world was perfume! Why not follow his sunna and use it! :)

Just trust Him...

Umar ibn Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Holy Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"If you were to put your complete trust in Allah, He would provide for you as He provides for the birds:  They leave their nests in the morning hungry and return in the evening with their stomachs full."
(Tirmidhi)

How sincerely do we trust in Allah? . . .   We always say, "Ya, Ya, I trust Allah, I trust Allah."  But is your trust really sincere?  This hadith shows, that if one puts his wholehearted trust in Allah, SINCERELY, then Allah will NEVER let him down.  We have to REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, leave our worries to Him.  Take them out of our hearts and put them in His Hands.  Completley.  Allah Himself says, "And whoever puts their trust in Allah, Al lah will take care of him."(Sura At Talaq, Verse 3)

But, just as the birds do their part, by leaving in the morning to search for food, we also have to do our part.  THEN we can leave everything  to Allah.  Once you tried your best and did everything in your power, then leave it al l to Allah.  And Don't Worry. If you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY trust Him, whatever He brings you will be for your best.  If we are not going to trust in Allah, then who else will we trust in?

Do you have trouble trusting in Allah? The solution is simple . . . Just look around you at ANYTHING . . . Look at the clouds, at the birds, at a new-born kitten, at a bannana, at your eyes . . . Look at its beauty and perfection . . . And then remember that the One who created that is the same One who you have submiitted your problem to. And rest assured . . .

Trust the One who created and sustains the Heavens and the Earth . . . He, truly, will never let you down. No problem is too big for Allah. And no problem is too small.  Put your trust in Him, and you will see His Magnificient ways of deali ng with the problems you have entrusted to Him! Once you put your trust in Allah, and He always fulfills a trust left to Him, you will say to yourself in awe, "I wonder why I don't trust in Allah for everything!"

Be like these birds, who do what they have to do, but have 100% trust that the All-Merciful will never let them down! . . .  And, all Praise be to Him, He never, ever does . . . . .

Relatives...

Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) relates that the Prophet (may Allah's Blessings and Peace be upon him) said:

"Whoever desires that his provision be increased and that his life be extended should join the ties of kinship."

(Bukhari and Muslim)

How is your relation with your relatives? . . . Your aunts, your uncles, your grandparents? When was the last time you visited them, called them, gave them a gift, prayed for them ??

Our beloved Prophet (pbuh) informed us that joining the ties of kinship brings two blessings in its wake: increase in all kinds of provision and lengthening your life !!!

But, what if they have cut ties with you ?? Well, then this is the very definition of upholding ties of kinship! This is your best oppurtunity. Because another hadith tells us that: "One who reciprocates doing good is not the one who upholds the ties of kinship. The one who (really) upholds the ties of kinship is the one who is kind to his relatives when they cut ties with him." (Bukhari)

So we have no excuses . . .

Make the effort to keep good relations with your relatives. . . for the sake of Allah. Visit them, call them, buy them something special, and don't forget them in your prayers . . . And then enjoy the blessings of increased provision and extension to your life !

Youth...

Abu Hurairah relates that the Prophet (may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said:

"Seven will be shaded under the Shade of Allah's Mercy on the Day on which there will be no shade but His Shade; one of these is someone who spent their youth in the worship of Allah."

(Bukahri and Muslim)

Allah is truly the Most Wise. He knows that youth is the most precious time of one's life. He wants to see who it is that will give this precious time just for Him.

And youth is so short. Before you know it, your days of youth, which appeared to strech out so long before you, will be a faded memory. So, now while you are still young, grab the chance and strive to obey Allah. Take the step for Him, do not hesitate. The greatest pain for the people of Hell-Fire is not the flames, but all the delay they used to make in obeying Allah during this earthly life. The Devil makes life appear to strech out before us, as if we have so much time. But only Allah knows when the Angel of Death will appear.

Life is short, why waste it far away from Allah? Seek His Pleasure . . . this is the only true happiness.

And when the Day of Judgement finally does come . . . As it surely must. How happy will be the one who spent his youth in the worship of the Lord of the Heavens and the Earth, as he hears the call for to take his honored place under the Throne of Allah! Maybe now, in the middle of this busy dunya we can't conceive of just how great this honor truly is, but when that Day comes, we will most surely know.

Remember you will only be young ONCE!!! . . . Use it for Allah!

It's all from His Mercy...

Umar ibn Al Khattab relates that the Prophet (may Allah's Blessings and Peace be upon him) said:

"Allah is more merciful towards His Servants than a mother is towards her child."

(Bukhari and Muslim)

Allah informs us in His Book (meaning) : "He Has Written upon Himself Mercy" (6:12). This means that every situation you face in this life, no matter how bitter, is sealed with the mercy of Allah. You may not see it, but you have to trust that all that happens is from Allah's Mercy. It is through these painful times that Allah teaches you the most important lessons of this life. He teaches you about patience, submission, and detachment to this worldly life. And most important . . . He brings you closer to Him. He closes all doors, so you go to His Door. He takes away those that you love, so you can taste His Love. He detaches you, so that you become attached to Him.

Ask yourself: Isn't it in times of suffering that you turn to Allah most sincerely? That you really open your heart to Him? This is the greatest mercy that could ever happen to you. Allah wants to teach you that no matter who you love, what you are attached to, what you hold closest to your heart, what you spend your days running after . . . It is Him whom you should be attached to, Him upon whom you should depend, to Him whom you should turn, and Him whom you should love most. He is your Creator, He is always with you, and to Him is your return.

If you manage to learn this lesson, then this is real mercy.
