COURT: WITNESSES PROVE WEAKNESS OF PROSECUTION CASE 'HIZB-UL-TAHRIR'

Lahore Dec 22 (PPI):- Hizb-ul-Tahrir's spokesman in Pakistan Mr. Naveed Butt said that on 14 December, two members of Hizb-ul-Tahrir, Dr. Iftikhar Ahmed and Imran Rasheed, were acquitted from the Anti-Terrorist Court after cross-examination exposed the Government's witnesses' testimony as being constructed out of falsehood and deceit. The workers have been preparing to make a speech accounting the Pakistan Government for its wholesale support of America's new crusades and had been subsequently arrested on charges fabricated against them by the authorities.

This case has clearly exposed the political agenda behind the Government's Anti-Terrorism drive. Instead of defending Muslims and Islam, the Pakistan Government has been quick to join the war against Islam, which is being conducted by America, Britain, Israel, India, Russia and other belligerent Kuffar in the name of a "War against Terrorism". By doing so, the Pakistan Government hopes to crush its harshest domestic critics, which are found within the Islamic groups. It is well known that our Hizb-ul-Tahrir is a strictly peaceful organization that call for the re-establishment of the Islamic Khilafah without engaging in any militant acts.

It considers that its work is raising the true world against injustice, and for this alone it is persecuted. Mr. But said that the recent war in Afghanistan has clearly demonstrated that the real opposition to the Government is not from the so-called "mainstream" secular poll parties, which generally displayed unswerving support for the Government's polices. Rather the real opposition comes from the Islamic groups. The Government is well aware of this reality and had introduced amendments to the Anti-Terrorism Act on 15 August 2001 in order to use pseudo-legal procedures to pressurize and intimidate the sincere Muslims by arresting them on baseless charges.

Prior to these amendments, only religious expression that could be construed as anti-sectarianism was outlawed. However, the new amendments have now made many general forms of religious expression a crime, irrespective of whether or not they arouse sectarian hatred. In this manner, the government has sought to bring all its Islamic opposition under the ambit of terrorism. He said that the authorities must realize the futility of their schemes. The Muslims desire nothing but Islam. They desire an end to slavery to America. No prison on earth is large enough to accommodate all those who want Islam to be implemented and to be victorious over the disbelievers.

And how far are they willing to proceed down this disgraceful path? Will they ban the Ayyaat of Quran demanding the complete implementation of Islamic and jihad against occupiers of Islamic lands? Is it not high time for them to embrace the change that the Ummah desires and stands firm for? Surely this is better than engaging in such a fruitless struggle that will incur nothing but the treachery of the disbelievers and the contempt of the believers in this world, and the wrath of Allah's (SWT) punishment upon them in the next.
