| Assalamu Alaikum, Insha-Allah, the MSA on my campus is planning to have a couple of "movie nights" during our IAW. I've been charged with the responsibliity of researching possible films and documentaries. Our campus Film Studies department already screened, earlier in the year, "The Message" and "Islam: The Empire of Faith" along with a few other films as part of their Understanding Islam series in response to reactions towards Islam and Muslims in the aftermath of Sept 11. Anyway we prefer not to screen those again unless we cannot find anything else.. We also do not want to screen "The Lion in the Desert" bc we showed that last year (and plus we prefer something more dawah oriented) So does anyone know or would anyone recommend any good films/ documentaries and videos that would be good to show during our IAW? They don't have to be in English..they can be in another language as long as they have subtitles.. JAK Salam merimda |

wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatAllah, Meri it sounds awesome.. may Allah make things easy for you all :) One video I'd recommend for daawa is [url=http://islamicbookstore.com/v103.html]Islam: A Closer Look[/url]. It's about half an hour long, and it's an *excellent* intro to Islam. I think a nice program would be this video, some refreshments and pamphlets, and some people willing to field questions after you play it. | Salam JAK se7en ^_^. That documentary sounds very good..They have some really good speakers in that.. I'm wondering if you or anyone else has seen the following videos from Sound vision: Islam in Africa (Speaker is Abdullah Halim Quick) http://www.soundvision.com/shop/pview.asp?item=110-303 It sounds good and I love Br Abdullah Hakim Quick..Awesome person masha-Allah..I am thinking this might be good since Feb is Black History Month and we'll be having our IAW the end of Jan/beginning of Feb insha-Allah. | Salaam I recommend Martyrs of Bosnia, by Azzam publications! Its a horrific video of shocking footage, but what it does is show the oppression of the muslims, and it will win over any hostiule non-muslims. NOT for the faint hearted. |
