AA A colleauge at work just gave me a BIG bar of Cadbury's Dairy Milk. It is not a Xmas gift, but he said he got a lot of chocolate for Christmas, and can't get thru it all. What shall I do with it? Keep in mind that I gave a class in Sunday School yesterday saying that good muslims should have nothing to do with Christmas. It's on my desk at the moment, and I'm getting more and more tempted... |

Assalamu alaikum Eat it!!! He said it wasn't a christmas gift, and I'm sure he meant it. He just needed help getting through all the chocolage he had. You'll be helping someone by eating it ;) Seriously, what's wrong with it? His intention wasn't to give you a christmas gift, so what's the problem? when I first saw the title of your thread I thought it was gonna be about a bottle of wine. I would have said throw it away, but chocolate???? :) Enjoy it! |

OK, seriously... I don't see how you are involved/participate/agree in Xmas celebrations, if you are given a bar of chocolate, that is not even a Xmas gift. Don't we buy unwanted Xmas gifts at carboot sales? Just my thoughts, I may be wrong. Allahua'lam :-) |
Aha that one won't work, it will probably melt in California! :) Now we wouldn't want to waste such a lovely chocolate bar would we? Best option is to send it somewhere cold.....somewhere like cold London ;) |

slm Send the chocolate to me! Perhaps instead of the post "Scarves for Museums" (which only two people have sent Kathy... sniff sniff) it should be "Chocolates for Kathy" |

Assalamu'alaikum :-) Ok, Ok, I'll answer myself, since noone is :) Carboot sale, is the sale of secondhand goods. Your old dress, radio, cutlery, toys etc etc... like a Garage Sale, in the US. But the difference is that people sell from their car boot, hence the name. Usually, spaces are rented out during the weekends to those who want to sell either in fields, carparks, or just open spaces. Some of the stuff are pretty new, like old Xmas gifts that they've never used! Certainly a bargain for the bargain hunter. And of course, you can bargain there. I got some nice stuff for just a pound or 2. Hope this answers it, Br Arshad, inshaAllah. :) |

slm *ahem* Sister Barr "forgot" to mention I'm sure, that only potty old insane people go wandering around car boot sales, looking for something cheap to bring home and display lovingly on their mantelpiece. Most of them think they'll find some rare piece of porcelain and go on the telly to the Antiques Roadshow and make a fortune out of it. Note the part where she mentions fields. Combine this with British weather and you've got - yes - mud! So you have all these insane old people wandering around looking for a fortune, in their wellies, and maybe the odd hijabi too. Get the picture?
Some of the stuff are pretty new, like old Xmas gifts that they've never used! Certainly a bargain for the bargain hunter. And of course, you can bargain there.
And just for the record..Germany is FAR colder than London at the moment and what's more, Cadbury's isn't readily available here either, Sooooo... Explorer, why don't you buy me a few bars and send them over and I'll get Sister Barr to pay for them, next time she's visiting in England :) Deal? ;-D wasalaam eleanor |

Assalamu'alaikum :-)
I just finished the last of it yesterday.
hmm, must be a B-I-G bar, akhi... it took you 5 days to finish it. And you never shared with us, didn't even offer! *tsk tsk tsk* shame on you! ;-D
...looking for something cheap to bring home and display lovingly on their mantelpiece...So you have all these insane old people wandering around looking for a fortune
Now, now... the carboot is only for those who have the discerning eye *ahem* :P
Sooooo... Explorer, why don't you buy me a few bars and send them over and I'll get Sister Barr to pay for them, next time she's visiting in England Deal?
Yeah, sure, I'll pay for those chocolates! :) just give me a complimentary ticket, Eleanor ;) Strangely enough, I had a weird dream about England last night. I rarely have dreams abt it, but if I do it's always weird... like, I'm back at uni, and I haven't done my dissertation at all, and I gotta hand it in 3 days time! Or, I got an exam, that I didn't study for, or I got lost, took the wrong bus, or I got lost at the airport..... ... and the most scariest is when I came back there, and everything's changed. I don't know that place anymore. Hmm, sorry... I deviated again. |
