A Belated Intro

Greetings all!

Once I saw that a lot of others were using the new board as an opportunity to reintroduce themselves, I don't feel so embarrassed about doing what I failed to do a month and a half or so ago -- introduce myself!

I am
-- a 33 year old Mom of a one year old girl (who has just learned to sleep through the night  :D).
-- an American (grew up not far from where you live, Kathy!) married to a Swiss and living in Zurich, Switzerland.  (They know quite a bit about cows here too!)
-- way "over-educated"  ;): B.A. and M.A., Mathematics, Ph.D. Operations Management
-- a fan of basketball, both playing and watching, though here I am also learning to appreciate soccer (not much of a choice  ::)) but I can't say I am any good at it
-- also into genealogy and choral music, both as  hobbies
-- fluent in English and Spanish, and am currently learning German and Swiss German (which are very different  :(:  Swiss German is spoken here, but not written, and vice versa for German)
-- currently reading the Qur'an and learning about Islam.  I am very glad to now have my "own" area of Madina in which to post all the questions I am collecting!

Thank you all for making me feel welcome, even though I am not a Muslim (yet?)!  I have learned so much about Islam from this board and its members, and I am looking forward to learning a lot more!

Peace,
Dawn

A little town called Narrowsburg, NY, right on the Delaware --  really, really tiny town.  Head over to Hancock and take Route 97 down the river.  It takes about an hour plus, depending on who is driving.  We used to go up to Endicott a lot when I was a kid as my Great-grandmother lived there and most of my aunts and uncles on that side lived either there or in Vestal.  (My grandfather was the odd one out.  He moved to Los Angeles as a young man and is still there!)  We used to go shopping at a mall up that way too, as I recall.

Hello Dawn :-*
Glad to have you here with us.    Endicott is where I grew up.   We will have to see how many places or people we both know.   I don't  live far from Kathy now.  If she comes to my house it is about a 20 min. trip.  If I go to her house it take about 10 min. (all downhill) ;D   Anyway if you visit Kathy stop by here.

you can say that again!! I have serious difficulties trying to understand someone speaking Swiss German, and I've seen TV programmes here where they put up subtitles when someone is speaking Swiss German!!

Reminds me of  a Scottish programme which used to be on (Rabb. C. Nesbitt) and my mother used to put up subtitles with the videotext  :D

I'm in Germany, Dawn, and if I can help you in anyway with your German then don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome to the board again and thanks for the intro'. I always thought you lived in the US  ::)
