This article was unreal! Some of the parts that interested me follow:
Handouts introduce the lessons by proclaiming, "You and your classmates will become Muslims" accompany the book. The student assumes a Muslim name, wears Muslim clothes and even memorizes a prayer that includes the line, "Praise be to Allah, Lord of Creation."
I found this a bit disconcerting... okay, to learn about the religion subjectively is okay. I remember learning all about Hannukah and other Jewish practices when I was in Primary School. But it wasn't any more than reading stories and singing a few songs about it .
I don't have a problem with teaching Islam in schools," said the Rev. Austin Miles, who lives in Contra Costa County. It was his January story on Byron's Excelsior School for the Assist news service, a Christian Web site, that lifted the issue into the public's view. "But I do have a problem with practicing Islam in schools."
:o Now this *really* got me. Alhamdulillah, he doesn't have a say in the matter one way or another.
Among the gripes: "Across the Centuries" offers a slanted view toward Islam and paints the religion in an unrealistic positire light, while simultaneously offering a negative view toward Christianity.
I repeat paints the religion in an unrealistic positive light !! :o
Be a bit more prejudiced why don't you?

However the article finished up more or less okay with the following:
"Religion doesn't do bad. People do bad. Let's separate the message from the messenger."
Although it is badly phrased.. let's seperate the message from the messenger? Better would be "let's seperate the true religion from those who misrepresent it..

now I'm feeling a bit angry all over when I read such garbage...
