| Salaams okay, i have a question..err, i don't really like my user name, i want another cool, slick name, which i am in the process of trying to create...but i saw on the bottom of my profile "delete user" 1) am i authorized to delete my user name or only the mods? 2) once i press that button to delete my user name, it's completely gone, right? so i would have to register, and this time with my new cool name, right?! okay, thanks for the help! i wanted to see if i could delete it on my own because i remember jannah had to do her "spring cleaning" and i didn't want to be one of those annoying people who has two user names and only uses one...but yeah, that's besides the point! all rightey, ta ta, wasalaams |

| [slm] I don't know about deleting user names but one cool thing about this new board is that you can change the user name that appears in the threads.You'll still be using the old user name to log in but the member list and everything else will show the new user name. |

| Sorry Serenity for jumping in on your thread but I have a couple of questions too. Computer related so maybe someone *cough*bhaloo*cough* can help me out? Firstly is there someway of downloading this board so you can read all the new posts offline? Like a google newsgroup? If so how do I set it up? Secondly, my defrag won't work anymore and now my pc is running tooo slow especially with all these new functions in Jannah. It gets to 2 or 3% and stays there for hours till I turn off the pc in dismay. What can I do??? Thanks in advance!! wasalaam eleanor :-* |

| wlm, i don't like the idea of users deleting themselves... i'll probably disable that function in the future. but go ahead and do it if for now if you want a new username.. then re-register.. |

| [slm] There are large contingents from those areas that frequent the board. Their personal clutter (announcements, organizational stuff) was all over the board so we decided to have these separate forums that people don't need to read if they don't want to. If there's enough people for another group we can always think about adding something.. |

Have you got enough hard disk space or have you run out ? Have you ran scandisk and then defrag ? Are there any partitions on it ? What is the format of the disks it NTFS, FAT or FAT32 ? A PC runnings slow can't be due to this board, perhaps its also due to your cache size ? How many days of history do you hold on the Internet pages What is the amount of Temp file size for usage of the web ? How much memory you got ? How many applications to you have runing at once ? Would you be able to get System software like Norton Utilities, ScanWorks etc they will help you diagnose your computer problem. My hard disk is 7.85 GB I have 5.75 free Have you ran scandisk and then defrag ? Yes. But still didn't work.. Are there any partitions on it ? | Hmm, I've always had niggles with Win 98, recently upgraded to Win 2000 and its much better. Win 98 is not memory efficient and crashes a lot. Anyway back to your problem I'm assuming your hard drive is in the format of FAT32, FAT32 is known as the file strcuture for storing, naming and organising files. I know on Win98 there are problems with Partitions, perhaps you may be suited to using a partition software tool like 'Partition Magic'. Have you tried using the version of Fdisk that comes with Win98 ? Your cache size can be determined by going to Control Panel > System and then clicking on Advance. Check waht the file size is for the cache or paging file is, it should be set as the default option. to find out how much sapce you have allocated to your temp web pages, on IE go to Tools > Internet Options, Look for the heading called Temporary Internet Files click on settings on that screen you'll be presented with a slider, I set mine to 40mb. Does you machine thrash a lot ???? For example, it has a churning noise emitted from the hard disk when your tranna open up documents or web pages ? What version of IE or Netscape do you use ? What processor do you have ? How much memory do you have ? Have you recetly installed any new software ? Insha-allah will solve your problem. Hanif |
