KANDAHAR (Special Correspondent): Information received from Kandahar city indicates that a well organised attack was carried out against governor Gul Agha's soldiers. According to details, heavily armed gunmen attacked the soldiers with bombs and automatic weapons. This attack took place in a section of the Chinese Health Hospital where Gul Agha's men have a military base. Eyewitnesses reported seeing great damage to the base and numerous bodies strewn around the area. Estimates indicate more than two dozen dead or severely wounded. Casualty figures among the attackers, if any, are not known. According to some sources, the well planned and executed attack, the first of its kind, has terrified the provincial government and U.S. soldiers in the region.

MORE ATTACKS ON KANDAHAR AIRPORT

KANDAHAR (Special Correspondent): During the current week, there have been two more missile attacks on Kandahar Airport and U.S. troops stationed there. The first attack was launched from the Irgisan Bridge near the airport. Several missiles were fired at the target but there have been no details on the losses or damage to the American base. The second attack was carried out the next day from the Khosab area of Kandahar. As before, several missiles were launched towards the section of the airport housing U.S. troops, and this time, eyewitnesses reported hearing loud explosions and seeing dark clouds of smoke rising from some of the buildings. No casualty figures have yet been released. During these attacks, American soldiers in a state of panic and confusion, blindly retaliated with heavy weapons fire killing eight innocent villagers.

U.S. AIRCRAFT COMES UNDER FIRE NEAR JACOBABAD

JACOBABAD (Report: Dr. Abdul Ghani): An American transport plane on its way to Afghanistan, came under attack near Shahbaz Airbase in Pakistan. The pilot, who turned the aircraft back to base after a short while in the air, reported that automatic weapon fire had been directed at the plane. This incident caused significant worry among the administrative ranks and security forces were called in to search the surrounding villages. As a result, fifty villagers were arrested randomly during the searches and a state of emergency was declared in the area. The security forces continued their operations throughout the night in Larkana, Jacobabad and the border regions of baluchistan. All civilians have now been prevented from entering a five kilometre region surrounding the airbase
