[wlm] Hey awesome!  I used to live in Portland, ME where there are a TON of Somalis and I went so far as to spend a lot of money on a "learn Somali" book and tape series.  I can say "is ka warran?" and a bunch of other things but I don't live there anymore so I don't get to use it  :)

However, if anyone asks me, we should all be learning Arabic first :)

Anyone on the board who's Turkish besides from Br. Isra?

Somali is cool, we have a Somalian sister in our community and it's awesome to hear her and her sister speak  :)
I'd like to learn Somali, if you can be patient with me Sr. Mohja   :D :D

I think all languages are nice and dandy but arabic is the most interesting... :-*

I second Tasneems call for arabic.

Furthermore, some of us are currently learning arabic (me)  8)
this would give us an outlet to practice the lugha.  :)

I am also in love with the arabic language, and have been trying to slowly learn more of it.  Here http://afl.ajeeb.com/afl/level1/level.html is a wonderful site, mashallah, where you can learn to speak arabic. It even has audio of the people saying the words, and quizzes to test what you've learned.  They do it in a conversation format, so you can learn lots of useful things. hehe, one thing i've learned to say is: ana munahasib fee bank which means i'm an accountant in a bank  ;D

Thanks for posting the site Ruqayyah...inshaAllah when i'm done with midterms, i'll try to learn some stuff from there.  I agree with everyone and Arabic is an awesome language, MashaAllah...and i also think that we should all attempt at learning it b/c it is the language of Allah-u SubhanaHu Wata'ala.
