AsSalamu'alaikum everyone! hope everyone is doing well
inshallah. I need some suggestions on choosing a topic for my next speech
assignment. It has to be an informative speech so i was thinking i should
do something related to islam, this way i can also give dawah at the
same time.  i was thinking of doing something related to the 911, because
it put us muslims in such a bad light...but i don't know exactly how to
go about doing this...what should i focus on? anyone have any good
ideas? or if you have any other suggestions..doesnt necessarily have to be
about 911..that would help too. quick responses would be appreciated
cuz this is due next week:)..hehe..anyway salaam.

Well the six month anniversary of 911 jus' passed...we've seen a lot from the media about the mourning and reflections from an American perspective (with propaganda nicely wrapped in each of the speeches made)...May be you could do a six month anniversary reflection piece from a Muslim perspective?
I can't tell you what to talk about, of course every Muslim has a different post 911 story to tell...I personally would talk about a synopsis of current affairs, the blood spilling, the mayhem, the labelling, the arrests, etc...
Talk about the spot light on being a  ;-) or  :-) in the west, and end with our outlook on the true meaning of Jihad.
I hope this helps somewhat :)

Talk about how OBL is not accepted as a Muslim and the punishment he would suffer in a Muslim society

what's OBL?

i'd suggest not discussing anything that has to do with islamic law. the unfortunate thing is people just don't understand islamic shari'ah, because the whole concept is completely different from western law.  actually maybe to give them some general background and understanding would be good, since most people don't know ANYTHING except what they watch on the news and hear.  i guess it depends on your audience anonymous... if they're sophisticated enough to understand the depth of islamic law or if they still need to understand basic misconceptions.....
