I started studying Islam in 1999 and started taking classess at a Mas-jid in 2000, but have never had a public Shahada (am I spelling this right?). When I ask revert Muslims the same question I myself always get, "How long?", they refer to there Shahada where as I refer to the beggining of the interest and insight Allah placed befor me. Any thoughts on this. |

[slm] Welcome to the board EdisonShi. :) Its not necessary to say the shahada in front of a group of people. There is a good explanation here of how to become a muslim. How to Become a Muslim - Cooperative Office for Call and Guidance- Riyadh http://members.cox.net/ameer1/howtoislam.html Although saying it publically in a masjid does have its advantages. A few weeks ago I remember a security guard said his shahada at the masjid, and they presented him with a gift, and so many brothers came up to him and hugged him and welcomed him into the community. |
