A title and artist and website where I could purchase this would be helpful. Thank you. Are there any put to music, or is that somehow not Halaal? |

[slm] as far as I know and I am open to correction, you will find it very hard to find a female on CD reciting Qur'an. The reason being that a woman is only supposed to beautify her voice/sing for her husband, or maybe in front of Mahrams. someone more knowledgeable will give you references on this Insha Allah wasalaam eleanor :-* |

Thank You, what are Mahrams? How about an Arabic contempary female singer who sings religious/spiritual songs? My Halaal store sells many CD's but I don't read Arabic and the owner of the store doesn't seem to follow my requests. I bought one just to hear some Arabic as I'm trying to learn some conversational Arabic so that I don't miss out on so much at Mas-Jid, but it was horrible and had none of the words I know. (Mostly Salat and alHamdt (sp?)) |

[slm] Edison, Mahram of a woman is any man to whome marriage is permanently forbidden e.g. her father, brother, maternal or paternal uncles etc. These are also the men in front of whom she can appear without the full hijab (but some form of decent clothing is still required) As Eleanor said, a woman is not allowed to beautify her voice in front of any non-mahram man and since reciting the Quran requires making the voice beautiful, you won't find any cd's with women recitors. Same goes for singing. Even if you do come accross any, I don't think it's permissible for men to listen to them. wallahu a'lam (and Allah knows best) Out of curiosity, why are you so particular about finding female voice cd's? There are a great many male recitors who have beautiful recitations wassalam alaikum |

As a man I naturally find Women's voices more comforting. No offense to the men who I'm sure recite and sing very well, when I discuss or listen to things powerful and emotional I like to "share" them with a Woman, not a man. Make sense? |

W.A. The only CD I've seen w/ womens' Qur'anic recitation is the CD that comes bundled with "Approaching the Qur'an: The Early Revelations" by Michael Sells. It has about 4 surahs recited by a sister. U can find it at: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1883991269/qid=1017186650/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-4526679-7867329 Masalams, Adnan. |
