| [slm] Hi! I'm Ruqayyah, the same Ruqayyah from the last board. A couple of you know me by another name, which if you read closely in previous posts, you'd know what it is, hehe...can you tell i'm not about to divulge what it is ;D I'm 21, and in my 2nd year of medical school, alhamdulilah. So if you all have any medical questions-don't ask me! hehe, j/k, i might be able to help, or i saw that tesseract is a real doctor. and nowadays, sites like [url]www.webmd.com[/url] are pretty helpful. Inshallah i'd like to do something in primary care or psychiatry. By the way, the new board really looks great, mashallah! It's rather addicting really, like i'll go online and i have to check email and check out the jannah page :-* Inshallah i'll be able to post more this week, since it's SPRING BREAK!!!! ;D [wlm] Ruqayyah :-) |

[/quote] There was a muslim psychiatrist at my old community and I always admired him for his line of work. He mentioned there is an international association of muslim psychiatrists and they have arrange conferences n stuff which i thought was really neat. :'(hey I want an international association of muslim food technologists! does one exist?? enjoy your stay, wasalaam, Ahmed |

| [slm], Have you gotten past that syndrom yet, when you feel like you have every sysmptoms of every disease that you study!!! :-/ . My sister told me that all the students in her class had that syndrom in her 3rd year of studying medicine. |

I've always been interested to know what Islam's take is on different psychological disorders and the different solutions for some of them that perhaps may be found in the Sunnah. I remember one year at ISNA they had a session about that and for example they talked about for people who have insomnia and so the doctor told them to make sure they prayed isha at night before they went to sleep. I think there's so much that psychiatry could benefit from Islam, just like all the other sciences have, because all the answers are in the Quran 8) [quote]I am studying for USMLE step 1 these days. [/quote] hehe, yea sometimes I like to do some self-diagnosing. It's kinda cool when you learn about disorders and you begin to watch other people, and you recognize them in others. Like the other day we learned about different kinds of gaits (the manner in which you walk) and how they correlated to different brain abnormalities, and I saw someone doing one of the gaits we learned about. Somaira, Alhamdulilah, i'm doing well, still on spring break, the fam is doin good, alhamdulilah. Old pics!! You should scan them and send em over! :D [wlm] Ruqayyah |
