[slm] I don't have any facial homemade recipes, but I often wash my face with Ivory soap. It makes your skin very soft and it smells good too :) Hope that helps.. [wlm] Betul |

[slm] Yea my doctor said that Dove soap is great for the skin, and i agree it does my skin good ;) Also, as far as home made facials go, i've got a great one that my roomie taught me: take 2 spoons of grahm flour (the stuff you make pakora's out of) and combine it w/ some milk and mix it slowly so that it's nice and smoooth, and not too clumpy. then microwave it for about 10 sec. Then glob the stuff all over your face- it should be thick, so no skimping! Then wait till it's dry and wash off. Ta da! your face is lighter, cleaner, and more radiant than ever :-* I should sell the stuff and do the commercials myself, hehe :-/ [wlm] Ruqayyah |

[slm] I think the most important thing about the soap is to use it on a regular basis. Like before i didn't always wash my face regularly, like i'd get lazy and not wash it before i went to sleep, but now i wash it twice a day, and mashallah it has really cleared things up. Also, just pat your skin dry w/ a clean towel used only for your face, don't scrub it. It also helps to drink lots of water. Also, don't touch your face excessively, and rub all those oils around. And change your pillowcase regularly. For breakouts, i'd recommend one of those acne creams that you can get from your doctor, like tretinoin. but make sure if you use it, that you're sure you're not pregnant, because it can be extremely harmful for your baby. As for the graham flour, i'm assuming you can get it from an indian store, or maybe even some grocery stores. Good luck! [wlm] Ruqayyah |

[slm] Well, i have a simple recipe that i really like. It requires: 3 tbs ground oatmeal, 1 egg white and some honey. Mix it all together, put it on your face leave it on for a while and then wash off. and then as Sister Ruqayyah says "Ta da!!!". Also make sure you really secure your hair really well, cos honey can get a bit sticky. Hope that helps! :) [wlm] imaazh |

[slm] Sisters, I am very far from being a scholar but I wanted to say that in a book I have " A HANDBOOK OF HALAAL &HARAAM PRODUCTS" it lists Ivory Bar soap and Dove bar and liquid soap as Haraam. I'm open to finding out any other info about this. I guess because I'm just learning I never know if I actually know "something" that someone else does not ... or my information is incorrect.( which is probably mor often the case.) |

Salaam, Here's something that worked for me (combo skin): For oily days: -Some besan (gram flour), a tiny pinch of turmeric, a drop or 2 of lemon juice and enough honey to make a thick paste. Rub onto your skin, keep on until dry, and then wipe/wash off. For drier days: -Use the ingredients above, but omit lemon juice. Instead, use a bit of plain yogurt (homemade or store) or milk. For scars: -Dab scar with lemon juice, may have to dilute (I haven't used this consistently enough to have proof that it works yet. Lemon juice is acidic so be careful if you have sensitive skin) The thing about besan is that if you use a mask made from it early on and enough, you can effectively remove light facial hair; ie, "peach fuzz" (if rubbed on, but not too hard!). After puberty, I hear, it doesn't work at all in removing hair. But its properties do well in exfoliating, etc. You can find it most readily in your local Indo-Pak stores, maybe other types of stores as well. |

[slm] When I was younger, I loved to pinched my acne before it was time to do so. As a result I created large pores on my skin :( anyway that was past :) Drinking lots of plain water (min of 3 litres daily) can do good for your skin. I dont like drinking as much before until my doctor told to cause I was getting dehydrated. So, I gave it a try..well..it keeps me going to the loo often ;D but at least I have better complexion now than before, alhamdulillah:) My friend gave me a homemade recipe on keeping the skin fairer and youthful. Take some instant milk powder and mix with water until its nice to put on as mask. Put on your face until it dry and wash it off with lukewarm water. My problem when I did this was the smell of the milk was so nice I was tempted to taste it while on my face ..hey dont try this ok :) :-) |

I know nothing of the reasons you stated. |

[slm], For anyone who has scars from acne and stuff, has anyone ever tried that yellow powdered stuff called ubtan???It works wonders MashaAllah!!! :) I used this really famous ubtan called Norangi Ubtan just mixed w/water and it would just suck out all the scars and impurities. So,if u can find that,DEFINETLY try that!! I tried to look it up online but couldnt find it anywhere,so if someone goes to Pakistan,PLEASE PLEASE, bring me a jar, will you?? :-* THe besan thing didnt work for my combination skin but last night , although I was tired ,I was so inspired by reading all these posts that I put a paste of chanbeli(jasmine) ki khali, a pinch of multani mitti, a pinch of turmeric, couple drops of lemon juice and milk and put it on my face.Left it on ma face for about half hour. No,I want looking ATTRACTIVE at all!! ;D) .But I woke up this morning and MaashaAllah my skin looked cleaner and healthier.( I also have a lots of scars and recurring problem of acne which doesnt go away even after about 7 years of my life). Ok,me outta here. Everyone take care now, [wlm] PS: for those who dont know what ubtan is,it is generally made of natural stuf like sandalwood, turmeric and other herbs and it is normally used for bride-to-be to get that glow on her face. But ofcourse it doesnt matter whether u r to be married or not. That stuff is da-bomb!! |
