Hijab for men???

A few friends and I where having a discussion on females wearing hijab yesterday.  And since then, all today I have been thinking of arguments to convince one of them of the benefits of wearing hijab.  I was really thinking about this as I was walking in the parking lot towards my car.  Then a thought came into my head  :-[, why don't men wear some form of hijab to protect their beauty from woman  8).  Men have beauty too!!!  ;D  :P  Well anyways, this next part is going to astonish you. Then another thought came into my head :-[([size=3]TWO[/size] thoughts in a row, amazing isn't it...many people thought it couldn't be done, and this day would never come...and who would have expected that I would reach this astonishing feat only after 18 years of life...my mom would be so proud  :'(...anyways, enough with the bragging); men do where hijab.  Well not really, but just think about this...once the male reaches puberty he begins to develop facial hair.  And it is an obligation upon the male to grow a beard. ;-)  Can you see what I am saying.  Men look more youthful without facial hair making him more noticed by females.  With facial hair you are protecting the beauty that lies under the beard from the eyes of females.  It all makes perfect sense.  And I am glad the sisters don't have to grow beards to protect their beauty. :D  I am sure there are other reasons for growing a beard that I don't know, and I hope nobody else has mentioned something similar to this before.  Oh well...I need a drink  []

I'll just grab a  [] and join in if you don't mind  :D

Well, my understanding of it is that hijab refers to far more than a piece of cloth covering a  woman's beauty. It is everything to do with modesty. From having modest thoughts, to behaving in a modest manner, to dressing modestly. So certainly men have a hijab too. They have to avert their gaze from non-Mahrem females and they have to cover their body from the navel to down past the knees.

So are you trying to say that a woman cannot be attracted to a man who looks like this ---->   ;-)  (without the yellow face of course..)

hmmm..looks like the females around here may have something to say on this  8)

Actually Sis its nothing about looking beautiful or attractive to the opposite sex, I keep it because its following the sunnah of the last prophet  [saw].
Of all the sinning that I do I am hopeful when I am placed in my grave or asked about my sins on the day of judgement, insha-allah I will answer that one good deed that I did was I tried to keep my face in the same way as the last prophet  [saw] and I hope to Allah that he forgives my sins on that basis. Ameen.

However, as the prophet  [saw] had more than one wife and some of the sahabas(May Allah be pleased with them) it just goes to show that real beauty is internal not external. If they didn't have a beard would they have more than one wife ???

His beauty was just something unique. As it has been mentioned once a sahabhi(forgotten his name) was sitting outside with the prophet  [saw] it was a full moon.. the Sahabi looked at the moon and he looked at prophet  [saw], he looked at the moon again and he looked at prophet  [saw], he said he had to confess that prophet  [saw] was more beautiful than the full moon. And yes our beloved prophet  [saw] had a beard.

Anyway beautify your faces with a beard(thats for the broz)

Yeah, like i have a problem with your ideas too. I mean, sisters come home and take off thei hijab and show their beauty to their husbands, but i never heard of a brother who came home and took his beard off to "unveil his beauty for his wife" as you seem to imply...???!?

haha.

Besides i recall a statement from one of the sahabiya who said something very much like Bro Hanif's last sentence.

Well whatever about a spray-on beard, you can definitely get spray-on stubble!! It's true  :D

Bro. Hanif, I [i]know [/i] the beard has nothing to do with being attractive to the opposite sex!!!  ::) I was asking the Brother if that was what he was implying!

Man, give me a  [] before I pass out from the thirst here..

If you pick up any recent issue of the Horizons magazine put out by ISNA you will see a full page ad in there of such a spray.  From the before and after pictures it looked like very impressive.  Although this spray was being used for the hair on the top of the head, not the beard.

I think keeping the beard is very important.
I can remember after 9/11. My family were very worried and they begged me to trim and shave my beard.  >:(

I said sorry their is no obedience to the creature to the disobedience of the Creator.

Alhamdulillah, Now I am happy about my decision.  :-*

You know when we were little we use to get into my mom ku'hul and draw us some beards and mustache's.  We're were in such a rush to get old.  But along with modesty I think women and men's perception of beauty are very different.  So male hijab, i dunno.

as salaamu alaykum,

A friend of mine was telling me about a summer camp she went to back in the day.. (it was FYLTP, for you MYNA kids) in which they made the *brothers* wear scarves (turban style, of course) just so they could appreciate what the sisters experience.

Thought that was pretty cool  8)  Might make my son do that one day  :P

wasalaamu alaykum :-)
