If you were planting a garden using only up to 5 different kinds,

:-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*      :-*

                             Which 5 would you choose?

Is this an imaginary garden, or are you asking for our input in your own garden?  MY answers to each of these situations will be quite different.

If you want input into plans for your own garden, please tell me what you are designing (a border? an arbour?, etc.), the colours you prefer, and how much work you are willing to put into the garden in order to maintain it.  This would allow me to choose plants that would suit your needs. (You in the Pacific Northwest, right?)

If this is an imaginary garden, I will give myself free rein to choose plants that I love, but which won't actually grow in the same environment.

I'll try to think of some interesting combinations in either case.

no, not for my own, was kind of starting a post simular to Kathy's about gems, but with flowers

After all  :D yesterday was the first day of spring   :-*

I would plant roses on three sides and in the middle, rows of Glads, daisy's and carnations   :D then as a 5th I would choose a tree instead of a flower, lilacs outside the garden but around it.

Then I would hot wire the outside   :o
so my horses wouldn't eat my garden    ;D

Around the waterfall and cool basin pool:

I would plant ferns and hyacynths.
Next in row- French White Hybrid Lilacs(for the beauty) and Purple Lavender Lilacs for the aroma.
Next to them Palm trees with heavy fronds.

Wa'alaikumussalam warahmatullah :-)

Aww, Kathy... inshaAllah khair. Allah kareem.

Yesterday, I noticed that a plant that I had for more than a year flowered... a beautiful white hyacinth. And I never knew that plant is a hyacinth before! Subhanallah!

Another strange thing ... that it grew, though... I didn't take care of it much.

Reminds me... no matter how barren a land is, if Allah wills something to grow and live. It will.

And if something is meant to be for you... then, it will be, no matter how unconceivable it may seem.

As with all things...
Allahu a'lam :-)
